I am a 23 year-old super-senior Writing for Screen and Television student at the University of Southern California. I currently freelance in numerous post production jobs around town and am preparing to enter the entertainment industry full time.
I also write, so I'm going to do that now.
Some families are salespeople, others are career military, mine is one that works in motion pictures and television. I grew up on Old Hollywood because my mother stayed home to raise me growing up and she has always loved vintage costuming and old movies. To this day my mom is my biggest fan and supporter in my pin up modeling and vintage-collecting expeditions. I go to Viva with my mom and I shout that from the rooftops.
"The original Greek word "model" means "misshapen ball of clay", and I try to think about that every time I go in front of the camera." My pin up "career" was founded on other people not showing up.

I got my start shortly before attending USC. At the time, Heart of Haute needed someone to shoot accessories on because their scheduled model could no longer commit to the assignment. When Heart of Haute put out a facebook casting call for someone to come and shoot, I sent in my most recent photograph at the time - a senior class picture at least two years old. To my surprise and delight, I was actually chosen to shoot the next day. At the shoot, another model was supposed to show up to wear the clothing - luckily they were not only hours late but I was also the exact same size.
I didn't get another gig until Mary at Vintage Suits by Mary needed a volunteer podium girl at the Paralympic Cycling Championships a year after my first shoot - as with Heart of Haute, someone could no longer make the call and I was willing and able.
Since my lucky breaks, I've occasionally shot and collaborated with a couple of photographers (who are actually journalists) who live near my parents. Since meeting Mary at VSBM I've participated in events on her behalf and she and her daughter Shelby are some of my closest friends in "the scene". I have also competed in the very first Miss "Viva Las Vegas Pin Up Contest" and began getting exposure from there.
Thus, I can't say for sure how PUG "discovered" me - I'm some kid that's been around for a while. In all honesty now that I think about it - I ended up following the advice Laura posted about becoming a PUG model without really setting out to follow it. The retro lifestyle has always been a hobby for me and photoshoots are an excuse to play dress up - this isn't something I seek to do (or by any means actually do) for a living. I go where I am needed and I have fun doing it.

Because I am a student, I don't really have the money to really splurge on PUG...when I do though, I put a lot of thought into my purchases and I cherish them dearly.
My absolute FAVORITE PUG item is the Jenny Skirt in Venetian Border Print. I'm of Italian descent and damn do I miss Italy - this skirt is my happy place!
Most of my PUG is from the Laura Byrnes Black Label because I often am forced to wear professional clothing by "the man" when I meet with certain people. I'm a huge fan of the cropped trousers and the Sean top!
My first purchase EVER was the original Deadly Dames Malibu Tiki Dress in Blue - I had to have it so much that I bought the last large in stock and had it tailored down professionally. Somehow it worked.
I don't have a "least favorite" piece. That's how you know PUG is doing something right.

As any vintage collector can tell you, mid-century fashion often times takes inspirations from different cultures. We have Mexican circle skirts, Hawaiian/Polynesian print clothing, western wear and various novelty prints that depict scenes from all over the world.
If there is a plumeria/hibiscus/orchid on it...it'll be worth at least…
