I'll share my creations!

The skirt I made a few years back for a costume party using a poodle skirt costume pattern (Simplicity I think).  It's the first piece of clothing I've ever made (with help from my MIL).  Circle skirts are really pretty damn simple to make.  Need to get to the fabric store and make some more, just haven't gotten around to it.

Cute! Love the fabric!

Thanks!  I fell in love with it the moment I saw it!

What kind of fabric did you use???

It was a fairly thick cotton and the white circles were embroidered on it.  I loved it and didn't care that it was a pricey (for me at least since I'm cheap) bit of fabric.

That's really cute! (and I think I might have those same shoes ^_^) I made a couple skirts a few years back too then I kinda fell out of it but I really want to get back into it and maybe make some dresses and such just because I'm trying to save up money and the local stores around here just don't carry anything I like anymore at all.

Thanks!  I've had the shoes forever!

I really need to learn a little more about sewing clothes.  I really hate how trashy most of the clothes in the stores look now.  I'm at that inbetween age where I know I can't get away with the younger styles (putting a cute shirt on a muffin top don't make it a cupcake!) but I'm not old enough really for what I find in the Ms. Dept so I figure I'm at the perfect age (for me it's the 'I really don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks') to be who I want to be and dress to please me.  The fashions of the 50's were so much more forgiving to slightly curvier girls (I've packed on a few pounds since that pic was taken) and classier looking.

So I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else makes to get some inspiration & maybe a little motivation!

HAHA! I know how you feel! :0 ]

Since I still have leftover frabric from this skirt I decided to get crafty yesterday.  I've been meaning to make a new strap for my camera forever.  I loved using my dad's old strap but it started falling apart & I really hate the standard strap that comes with a DSLR.  Since I'm a shutterbug I wanted something a little more stylish.  So I tore apart Dad's old strap and repurposed the hardware.  The handly little pouch for my lens cap is my favorite part!  Now I won't loose it or put it in my back pocket and have people think I chew...lol

I know it's not vintage/retro but I wanted to share :)  Haven't used my sewing machine in a while so I needed a small project to start so I can work my way up to the flamingo dress!
