There are so many sites and places to buy a corset.  While custom is of course best, when starting out it's quite an expensive leap to make off the bat. So here are some "Off The Rack" corsets I have and would recommend.

My first corset was from this store called http://www.timeless-trends.com/

I have the one pictured above "Emerald Brocade Under-Bust". By the way when starting out I recommend an under-bust as apposed to over-bust. Unless you are around a C cup or smaller under-busts can be hard to get a good fit in. Even then I would still start with an under-bust.

This is a beautiful corset. I believe all of Timeless Trends corsets are cut from the same basic pattern and construction so you are really only deciding on the fabric. They are usually around $99 dollars, (sometimes less, check their sale section!) which is an amazing deal because they are extremely well made. They have a lifetime guarantee. shipping was really fast too.

The only down side for me is they have more of a modern hourglass shape. I can't cinch my waist as much as I am capable because there isn't quite enough room for my big hips. I have about a  25" to 26" waist and 38" hips. The one I own is a 24" corset and I feel comfortable with it laced all the way, but It does pinch a little at the hips. I could also see displacement bulge being an issue if I went smaller.

This is one of my absolute favorites! The Morticia Corset from What Katie Did.

http://www.whatkatiedid.us.com/products/corsets (this is their US site)

I love the curves this corset has. The hip gores leave plenty of room for my big hips so I can lace down much better. It's a long line corset so it holds everything in nicely down below.  WKD corsets are all so beautiful and they have so many beautiful vintage inspired styles. They are not made for training or tight lacing. I own a 20" Morticia, I usually only lace down around 23". But because of the curvy construction a 23" waist looks like a 20" waist . It was around $275 last I checked but they sometimes have great deals in their Ebay store and in their LA and London shops.

My other favorite is my Josephine under-bust by Isabella Corsetry  http://www.corsetmaker.com/cat/Very similar to the Morticia with the hip gores and and all around curves. The Morticia has more of a V shaped ribcage, this one is slightly more curved over the ribs. It's also a little more sturdy for training. I use this one most often for daily wear. It is in their immediate shop for $175, I got mine on sale for $140 a few months ago.

Ok add to this list ladies...

That's true Jen, most women didn't wear their corsets to sleep. For myself it's a personal preference and as I understand from long time tightlacers it depends on the person. I've been as regular as a clock and it's actually very important to stay regular and hydrated everyday. And while corsets do put pressure on a woman, she has the power of control. You don't have to keep your laces tight all day or night. I cycle my laces, going tighter when I feel for it (usually morning for me) and then loosening them when at night. So the matter of pressure you induce on yourselves or your corset and it's seams is really up to the individual. Also it's a good rule of thumb to have at least 2 corsets to cycle between.

And believe me there are days when I have to go without my corset because of certain activities. Not because it's too difficult in one but because I don't want to strain or ruin the outerlining of the corset. But sleeping in them really depends on you and how you lace, how late you eat, lifestyle habits just like everything else. And for some it can actually be a low impact to their lifestyle to sleep in their corset. People should also keep in mind that if you're going to train your body it takes years there's no fast track, it depends on you and what you do. Gotta be good to your body! :)

I hope you didn't think that I was directing my comments at you personally - I just thought it would be a good idea to mention the things I did because people don't always talk about them and a good deal of people in general just aren't as in touch with their bodies as they should be. I'm glad you point out hydration, because so many of us forget to drink enough water when we get busy and that's a huge portion of it. And I can't believe I forgot to mention it along with the other parts. :)

Oh no, I think its a great point you brought up because there's all sorts of little things that go with corseting that people don't realize! I just put out my personal experience because you don't hear all the details and of course it depend son everyone's body and lifestyle, but I always found it helpful whatever people put out there either personal experiences or stuff they've read.  But bowel movements are very important lol, kinda funn to talk about the bathroom but there it is. :P

Corsets Queen

. I was hesitant because of the low price, but the corsets I wanted had already been significantly reduced in price and were three for the price of two. All three corsets ended up costing me $140. The construction is beautiful,  and much better than my corset I used for my wedding from Shaper Corset. My new corsets truly have beautiful shapes and compliment my natural curves wonderfully. The black corset is the curviest. The green brocade is simply lovely. The red striped corset is my favorite because it looks like a work of art. It is truly gorgeous.

@samantha I've been on so many sites looking at corsets that I'm even more confused than when I started! I fell in love with the picture of the red corset you posted and so I've decided to take the plunge they have beautiful fabrics and prices and since I'm so new to the PUG look I really don't want to spend $300+ on a corset so I wanted to ask you if your corsets from corsets queen are sturdy and can be worn as undergarments and/or waist training? also I noticed they are shipped from India and shipping is free would you happen to know how long it will be before I receive my order? Any advise is welcomed and appreciated.
It is difficult trying to decide! The quality truly wonderful-complete with steel boning and busks. The corsets are VERY sturdy. A bit stiffer than my previous corset from Shaper Corset, which is better for waist training. Be prepared to have perfect posture-I feel taller when I wear them. I do not believe the corsets are visible from under dresses. It would be more likely to be able to be seen under a sheath (wiggle). The corsets are all wonderful for both waist training and as an undergarment. I will say that I ordered a liner to go underneath them from Heavenly Corsets. It protects both your skin and your corset. I was amazed at how generally lovely the corsets are in person. The corsets arrived in about a week and a half or two weeks. I was thoroughly surprised at the fast delivery. I will say that for the price, they are very good. A custom corset would of course be the best, but for under $300, this is a great way to go. The red brocade/striped corset is available in overbust as well. The only issue I have with underbust corsets, is they make my breasts look quite large in comparison to the rest of me. Since I am well endowed with full 36DDs, that is interesting. My husband likes it. The sizing is similar to other corsets-four to six inches below natural waist measurements. The corsets truly do seem to decrease waist measurements. Please let me know what you decide on! The corsets look best under swing dresses!
So I took the plunge and ordered a plain black underbust from WKD, after much debate I went with Morticia. I have a shorter torso and was a bit apprehensive about the fit. It worked out great, although I think I would be more comfortable with a 1/2 inch off immediately under the bust. Overall I am happy with this purchase, love the look and already considering more! I would love an overbust in a colour or pattern, but at DD+ I might go custom to ensure good fit & support. The WKD is an amazing piece of engineering, great quality. I'm attaching a pic so you can see.

Thanks!  I really love it!  I'd love to wear that outfit out, I just don't know where...  I already have my eye on another WKD overbust, plus there are so many artisans making beautiful stuff.  I've been eyeing the wares at Pop Antique... and Dark Garden... and I am so in love with this look.  Do you wear yours mostly as a foundation garment?  I think I recall your earlier pics, it looks like you've worn them out?  Do you find people react to this look in one way or another?

Thanks :)  I've looked at the WKD Storm, but don't love the bow on it, and I find the bust shape looks a little weird in the pictures.  That could be because the models they use are not actually DD+...  WKD offers their Laurie corset in DD+ size, so there's that.

I mention comfort level, because I've worn my tiger vamp dress out to a Cirque du Soleil show (I thought for sure that would be a great outfit for the circus).  My BF and I noticed some of the "judgy looks" I was getting from other people, all women. Can you imagine working a corset into that mix?  haha...  yikes.  It seems people dress down for the Cirque, lots of jeans, so I did feel overdressed...

Hey y'all, I have a problem & maybe u can help. I buy a sz 28 in a WKD corset. I'm able to close it completely. I've bought corsets from other places, that I HAVE NOT been able to close all the way up. Anyone know what I should do? I need to buy new corsets, cuz I've lost a bit of weight.

Thanx Ruth.  B4 I lost a bit of weight, I wasn't able to close it all the way & yes, my 2 best corsets r WKD, Morticia corsets. I'm lookin at Corsets Queen & wonderin if anyone has bought a corset from there & if they have, have they ever worn a WKD corset? I've bought 3 other brands & none have been as comfortabIe as WKD corsets. I like that ULTIMATE tight lace, where I look like an hour glass. I REALLY want the WKD, Extreme Mae corset.

I just bought a corset from L'Atelier de LaFleur. I ordered a custom waist cincher (Mina is currently having a sale where her new made-to-measure service is at the price of her standard corsets and her standards are $75 cheaper) and Mina was amazing to work with and my cincher is exquisite. I asked about a billion questions because this is first custom corset (I have the standard Josephine Underbust from Isabella Corsetry) and she was very patient with me and super quick to respond. I don't want to come off sounding like an add, but the only reviews I read for her are on her website, but she does really amazing work. I don't have any pictures because I just started seasoning it and it's not fitting me properly yet (it feels insanely comfortable, though, and I am having to restrain myself for lacing down too quickly), but she posted pictures of it on her facebook. With shipping and a fabric upgrade, it came it $320, which is definitely a good price for a custom corset.
