I just received my Lady V London Isabella dress in Cadbury Purple Polka Dot yesterday and it was love at first sight!

The Isabella is probably my favorite pinup/vintage dress to date...it looks/feels like it was cut specifically for my body, which is more than I can say for the rest of my pinup/vintage collection! I haven't been so lucky with my recent purchases...they have been hit-or-miss on my body type.

The Isabella:

I noticed that the Isabella is very similar to the Pinup Couture Heidi, so now I'm intrigued and excited that I have yet another possible dress option.

The Heidi:

Have any of you purchased or tried on both of these? How does the fabric/fit/etc of the Heidi compare to the Isabella? I'm interested in purchasing or swapping for a Heidi, so I'd love to know! :)

Thank you!

Good to know! It sounds like I will have to suck it up and get a Heidi, and compare them side-by-side. They look gorgeous in pics! Which Heidi colors/prints do you own? :)

Wow! The Heidis look fantastic on you! :) Thanks for sharing your pics.

I don't own anything from Lady V; but that's because when I've looked at the size charts, the dresses are cut for a different body shape than my own - I'm a classic hourglass shape, but Lady V are one of the brands that seem to (or actually do) produce clothes specifically for more pear-shaped figures.  Having said that, I love my Heidi, and can't wait to be able to get more.

Ah yes, that would make sense then...I am very pear-shaped: 36A - 28 - 42. I may just have to wait for a good sale (or a swap) to try the Heidi and hope for the best! I think my biggest concern is that the shoulders and bust won't fit well. My Erin dress, for example, is VERY tight across my wide back/shoulders, yet very loose in the bust. ;)

Hi Kristina! I live in the UK & have 6 Heidis (leopard, cherry, pindot, red spanish fan, birdcage & pinup print) & also 3 Isabellas (a white poppy print & 2 three quarter sleeve ones, all of which are now discontinued). The Isabellas are great if you are on a budget & worth the money especially if cut down to sale price. But I think the fact I have shelled out for Heidi dresses that are not available in the UK sort of speaks for itself as the quality is miles better! The material is thicker, the skirt fuller & the bustline fits me far better (my Isabellas fit me well at the waist but gape a bit at the bust. As mentioned by Sammi I am slightly pear shaped so maybe this is not surprising as I read Isabellas are cut a bit bigger at the bust than Lady V's other styles). If you can afford a Heidi or can save up definitely go for it, I don't think any gal has ever regretted buying one!! :-)

Thanks for the info! Very useful information.

One of my hesitations is that I will NOT enjoy the fuller skirt and thicker material as everyone else does. I know that sounds ridiculous, so please let me explain! ;) I have several thick, full PUG dresses, and the weight of the material makes me look much heavier than I am. The very full skirts swallow me up and make my legs look very short. However, I'm willing to take a chance on a Heidi, though, if I can get it on sale. :)

Hi Brandi! :) Yes, I have an account on their site. Will keep an eye out for upcoming discounts!

Oh my goodness, I've always wanted to go to a PUG yard sale! Sounds awesome. I'm in New England so it's kind of tough to make it out there, but I wouldn't mind coordinating a trip to CA around the same time as a yard sale hehe. ;) Unfortunately I don't have any friends who live in CA.

P.S. I just bought my very first petticoat! I ordered it from Malco Modes, and I highly recommend this brand! I looooooove how soft it is! No scratchiness. I wore it all day in NYC this past weekend in 16 degree weather, and it kept me surprisingly warm! I felt like I was sitting on a cloud lol. I went conservative with this first petticoat purchase because I didn't want to look like a giant cupcake, so I chose a black '580/Zooey' style. Am so impressed, that next time I might just buy the fuller '582/Jennifer'. These are in the $50-$60 range, and you can find some deals on Amazon. :)

I've never owned an Isabella though I can see why it would be love at first sight Kristina. As for the Heidi's, I own five of those. White with black dots, black with white dots, royal blue, leopard and red. I agree with Brandi Shuey that cotton sateen has a lot of stretch to it so you have a healthy range of sizes that can fit the same dress. It's very figure flattering too, especially in the bust no matter what cup size you are.

Without a doubt it's my favourite pinup dress of all time, and I would absolutely recommend them to any curious pinup :) Also as an added bonus the waist belts are great quality and can be swapped out to use with countless other pinup dresses or separates!

Thank you, Tahitia! <3 Very excited to try the Heidi...sounds like an all-around winner for many body types!

P.S. I love your style and I love following all of your posts! :)

Awww really? Thank you so much Kristina! That means a lot to me and yes the Heidi is a friend to every body type. You're going to love it :)
