I have naturally very curly hair and I've been having trouble figuring out how I can do pinup hairstyles without using a flat iron. I'm afraid that I'll end up frying my hair if I keep straightening it to achieve my desired styles.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks!~

I have straight hair, but I have always been envious of girls with curly hair, the grass is always greener! What about a Marilyn Monroe style?

Treat your hair right, and it'll look great forever :)

My hairdresser's always saying how lovely my hair is, and I wash and straighten it everyday, and have done for over ten years!  Having said that, I've always used heat protection spray when straightening (or curling), and in hte last few years have started to use products to help care for my hair before I dry it.  My current favourite is Osmo's "Wonder 10", and their "Thermal Defence" heat protection spray.

Hey!

I am in the same boat! So far, the advice I read is that you definitely do not want to flat iron your hair before attempting to do pin curls, for example, since they won't stay. I usually blow dry my hair after applying styling lotion and heat protectant products, but don't dry it perfectly straight. Then I use a curling iron to create curls then pin them, wait for a bit (while doing make up) and then voila. I have been thinking of trying rollers, they appear to be more tedious, but you'll do less damage than the curling iron.

Thecherrydollface on youtube did some tutorials on a friend with curly hair, but your best bet is youtube and practice! I'm still learning, but its amazing to see all the self taught pin up gals and their skills in both make up and hair, it shows that we can do it too!

If you are born with curly hair, well,it maybe a little difficult to straighten them.I recommend the hair wigs which have many types such as wigs for white women and African American style hair wigs to choose. You just can have a try.
