Hello lovelies! Now that the group has grown a bit, I think it may be a good time to introduce ourselves to one another. What part of Los Angeles do you live in? What are you into? What is your favorite PUG item? Etc., etc., etc...

Some things about me; I love all things PUG, I live in the Pasadena area, I have two cats, a man, I am a horror movie fanatic, I am really into craft beer and anything Tiki. I don't have many girlfriends to hang out with but I am always up for drinks and of course shopping. Eventually, I would love to host a meetup for all of us to get acquainted in person. I am really looking forward to this group and I hope you are too. :)

Hi Natalie and welcome to the group.

I love the pinup/rockabilly/psychobilly scene, however, I dig just about any type of music and I don't identify with any scene because I like everything. I find it difficult to window shop as I am a shopaholic, but I do enjoy window shopping as much as the next gal.

How did you like your 1st Comic Con? I've been going since the age of 18, I am now 33.

Hi Christina,

I loved it! It was so cool, I went with my husband and some friends. We plan to go again next year but hope to go for a few days and not just Saturday like this year. =)

Glad to hear that you had fun. The pre registration is happening sometime in August. I usually only go 1 -2 days and then hit up bars after. I am from San Diego and have seen the con grow from a small gathering of like minded folks to a huge studio driven con. It's crazy to see how much it's grown.

I am also in the Pasadena area. I live all by me onesies, but I love it! I love pretty much everything PUG has to offer, and am working towards being able to afford "ALL THE THINGS." What am I into? I love music, dance, theatre, art in general... I am terribly lucky in that most of my girlfriends are into vintage, and in fact, many of my guy friends. I hope to learn how to sew, so I can create some vintage fashions that are just for me.

Anyway, nice to "meet" you all. :)

Hi Everyone. I live in North Hollywood and my passion is makeup! I'm currently a working freelance makeup artist. I dont own anything PUG per say just a wealth of knowledge I gained from taking Micheline's makeup classes (FYI her classes are amazing!)

Im a little obsessed with Hollywood history and I'm always looking for chisme and stories of what happened behind the scenes of the good old days when UA, MGM and Universal ruled the hills.

Hope to meet some of you amazing ladies at the meet ups. =0)

Hello ladies! I'm moving up to Sun Valley in 3 weeks and can't wait to get there! Here in San Diego i cant seem to find many other PUGsters. I love the UG store on magnolia, it is BEAUTIFUL and would love to meet up there with some of you soon. I am a huge fan of make-up and hair. I Do as much as possible to keep a glamourous PUG look without spending a ton.

My boyfriend of 3 years Lives in the Pasadena area and works in the music industry and just finished working for the Warped Tour. I am pursuing a career in casting/production in television and hope the move to burbank will give me a nice push in that direction.

I just can't wait to be up there closer to my man and all you PUGsters.

PS anyone else here a San Fernando Derby girl? im looking to join that league ASAP!

hey tianna, are you interested in banked track derby?  i'm a ref with the LA Derby Dolls and i live in burbank.  :)

hey everyone else!  i'm a socal girl, born and bred.  live in burbank (as already stated), work in pasadena, i have an amazing 15 year old daughter and a beautiful cat that is my second child.  i work a regular office day job, but am heavily involved with my derby league and am co-captain of our ref team.  i love makeup, vintage hair, books, going to the movies and hanging out with my man.  i don't have many girlfriends who are into PUG/vintage, but i'm totally cool with rolling solo to sales/shopping events and things like that.

i was at the yard sale saturday before last and picked up a few lovely things, but have yet to hit the actual store.  i'm a little tentative because i know my bank account will take a hit when i do.

i'd love to make it to a get together, but i can't make it to the one that i think is planned for the 20th because my league has a game.  a derby bout might be a fun thing to do as a group if any of you are interested.  i tend to work most games, but it might be a fun outing.  our next game is 10/20 and then we have a champs bout on 11/3 before we go on winter hiatus.  let me know if you're interested.

also, there is a great little dive bar near unique vintage, which is down the street from PUG (i'm SO lucky that both places are in burbank) called tony's.  maybe another option for a hangout could be to do a little shopping down that stretch of magnolia and then stop in for a beer?  there are a number of really great vintage shops along magnolia...playclothes, hubba hubba.  it's heaven!

Hi everyone!

To borrow Emily's phrase "Squeel!" I live in Baldwin Park, which is about 10mins east of Pasadena. I travel on foot or by public transpo, so I have to plan my trips anywhere outside on my little city. I LOVE everything PUG, and in joining this site, I have unleashed my PUG self; I've always been into vintage anything - I love the items of the past being used in the now (and yes, I am big into recycling/upcycling because I think it's better for our world). Plus, some of the items from the past are just fabulous - the modern replacements don't have the character and beauty that the items of the past do. I do a LOT of window shopping because I work for a min-wage job in retail, so my budget is limited. I would love to own a ton of PUG things, and once I get my basics settled, I will start working towards owning them. The only thing I would really LOVE to do is explore the nightlife - there is a bus that does go into downtown 24hrs a day, so I could work out a way to get there and still get home, but I have no idea where to go, or what to do there. Even when I was younger, my idea of fun going out at night was a trip to a dive bar to sit, chat, play pool/darts and have a couple of drinks. That's still my preferred going out idea, but I know if I showed up in anything PUGlike at any of the local dives, I would stand out like a sore thumb. I would also love to take dancing lessons soon... on my bucket list. At the age of 35, I am a little late starting back out into the nightlife & dating scene (that's a whole other thing!). Dying to meet others in person and have a group of like-minded GF's to go shopping, share, talk and hang out with. I do have GFs from work (we just had a girl's day BBQ which was awesome) but I'm the only PUG in the group. We have another PUGer at work, but she and I are world's apart in age and social circles (although we get along wonderfully and share MUAH tips). I've never had too many GFs before; I've always had guy friends though. As for music, I listen to everything but hard rap, heavy metal, and I'm just starting to listen to a little bit of the new country music. I am so not a horror girl - nightmares! Hope that gives you an idea of who I am... oh, I also love gardening - there's nothing like meditating while working with your hands in the earth!

Hope to meet ya'll soon!

Double O Jenn =)

Late to the party as always, but I'm an East LA lady (10-15 minutes east of Staples Center and LA Live), I love makeup and music and spend a lot of my free time drawing or watching hockey. Yes I'm an avid hockey fan, and a PUG to boot.

I love the PUG swimsuits. It's almost a prerequisite to have a swimsuit living in LA, isn't it? :)

I'd love to meet up with y'all any time (except game night. I yell a lot) but since I take public transportation everywhere I'd need advance warning.

I guess that I have not really introduced myself formally to the group. I thought up my pin up moniker of Aoife 24K only a couple of months ago. But my name full name is Aoife Kenny. Aoife is kind of like the Irish equivalent of Eve.

I have written about this next bit in other places here on the site but not here. I am a genetic male. Yep, I was born that way. But I have a very strong female aspect to my being. Some people might call me a transvestite or a cross dresser. I am not really happy with those descriptions. As Popeye once said "I am what I am" and that just means me. I hope not to offend anyone by coming out about myself. And if you are uncomfortable with me that is OK, I understand.

So far it seems that I am older than almost any other PUG group member I've come across. I am on the wrong side of fifty. And sixty is not that far off for me. Maybe my interest in pin up and retro glamour has something to do with actually grouping up in the later stages of the original pin up era. Much of my wardrobe was purchased at thrift stores. It is an inexpensive way to get clothing. As time passed I found that I was drawn to buying classic styles of clothing. Well nowadays, pin up and retro clothing are all that I want to wear.

I grew up in a liberal household. I have been aware for a long time about the inequalities in our society. Although women of the glamour era looked great, their lot in life was often very difficult. Women these days have so many more choices. I like to take the best from the past and combine it with modern day sensibilities.

I have many varied and slightly strange interests. I love afternoon tea. But I also love going to pubs and drinking craft beer. I have season tickets to the LA Phil. But I love folk music, Balkan music, Cajun, standards, etc, etc. I'd much rather spend my day at a museum than at a ball game. I could tell you more, but maybe next time.

Thanks for letting me ramble. And if you are interested, I hope to make some new friends here.

Aoife,

How the heck did I miss your sentence about drinking craft beer? I am a craft beer nerd!

I am big into craft beer. What is your favorite brewery? What is your favorite style(s) of beer?
I prefer porters, stouts, sours, and anything that has been barrel aged in Bourbon. My hubby and I
literally have a wall of beer we are "aging" and drinking. Our spare room is filled with craft beer.
Girl, we need to hang soon!

Beer? Did someone say beer? Yes, we must get together. My faves are Christmas style beers and almost anything Belgian.
