Can any ladies tell me how the cut of the Luscious compares to the Heidi? Since I didn't have much luck with the Heidi, I'm a little wary of running into too-long torso issues. Can anyone weigh in?

I own a heidi and a luscious, and though I love the look of the heidi, it just can't compare to the easy comfort of the luscious. The waistline on the heidi hits me right at the natural waist, which is much higher than most current fashion, but accents the narrowest part of the body- and the way the luscious is cut, it doesn't so much have a "waistband" as it does a "midriff." So it has a wide band of fabric that fits snugly through the middle of the dress, from right below the bust down to the natural waist (which is, again, higher than most current fashion.) I am not sure if you're saying the heidi hit you too high or too low, but since the luscious is knit, I think it has a better chance of sitting right. I will also mention that if you order based on your measurements, you can be flexible with the bust, but not the waist measurement. In fact, if your underbust measurement is much bigger than your waist, you might still want to size up.

For the record, I really, REALLY love the luscious. Good luck!!

I still can't quite figure out how, but Heidi created a sort of muffintop effect on me below the belt, because it seemed the bodice was too long for my torso, so it was still figure-hugging a little further down than I would have liked the skirt to flare out. Or something. Anyway, I guess I'll never know for sure unless I give it a shot... :)

im kind of confused about you mean about sizing up? how much stratch is in the waist band?

If your measurements aren't within the stated size range for the waist measurement, you may want to buy the dress in a larger size. There is not much stretch in the waist.

I have both too - (several of each... *cough*), and given your problems with how the heidi fit, you SHOULD be okay in the Luscious. Meghan is right, it has more of an actual midriff - but the thing is that you could probably pull it up a bit to wherever you want your waist to appear. The Luscious also has gathering in four places - two in front and two in back, and that puffs out the skirt more, rather than the smooth lines of the Heidi. The skirt on the Luscious is a lot closer to the skirt on the Ginger.

For $88 I think you should try a Luscious - but do it quick, the larger sizes are already gone in the mint and the blue! I have the mint and blue in XL and they are my go-to "lazy day" dresses. My ONLY tiny reservation about the mint is that I sort of don't want to wear it to work.... if anybody really looks, it's got mermaid buttcrack on the shoulders, LOL. A little sideboob, too!

HA, that's my reservation about the Mira too. I've been asking a few friends for thoughts re: appropriateness, and got a few interesting suggestions. I'm thinking I might try to sew a little decorative button (like a shell or anchor or something) over the bootay area, or maybe place a tiny strategic bow to cover up in a way that doesn't look totally silly. I did break down and go for both the mint and the navy, just to see how they work on me. If they don't, I can always send them back...  Oh yeah, and thanks for explaining about the different skirts. I'm excited to see how it works out!

Still confused and disappointed about Heidi, though...

I'm curious how you liked the Luscious!

Whoops! I did leave that hanging, didn't I?

I wasn't thrilled about how the mint looked on me, to be honest. Something about the light color seemed to show off my lumps and bumps a bit more than I care for (including the prominent lines left by the underwire in my bra, which seemed to dip below the dress's bust line, just like happened with the Heidi and, to a lesser extent, in the Ginger). It also weirdly made my boobs look lopsided, which I swear they're not in real life! When I enlisted a second opinion my husband agreed that it wasn't the most flattering piece of clothing he's ever seen me in. I sent it back. I wish it had worked better for me, and maybe on a different day it would have, but I'm also glad not to have to worry about mermaid butt work-appropriateness ;)

The navy was much better! The darker color helped to camouflage the bits I'm not as confident about. When I came out in it, Husband said, "WOW, that is HOT", and wouldn't let me send it back (I still wasn't 100% sure about it at that point ;). I've since worn it to work twice and gotten lots of compliments on it, and I'm really happy about it :D

You're totally right! The navy looks awesome on you, and the mint was less so. But I'm glad to know that, because I was tempted by the mint, and I'm thinking I'm probably better off with just the navy! Thanks for the pictures!!

Happy to help! There are some people that the mint was *made* for - I had a sinking suspicion from the start that I might not be one of them, but I had to give it a shot anyway. Live and learn ;) Meanwhile, I <3 my octopi :)

Seriously, never thought navy looked that good till I saw your picture in it. That totally changed my thoughts on it. Yet, I know mint would look better on me than the navy in order to bring this dress's true potential.

Skin color matters quite a bit.

Great job demonsrating the difference! :)

Thanks! It's funny (and great!) how much other customers' photos can affect how we'll consider a dress for ourselves, isn't it? :)
