It's time for me to get some new perfume. Unfortunately i have yet to find my signature scent. I am quite picky about what i like and thought this would be the perfect place to get some help.
One of my favourites is Thierry Mugler Angel. I also tried Guerlain's petite robe noire today , which i also liked. I generally seem to like quite sweet perfumes . I don't like anything too musky or floral.
Any help is much appreciated.

If you like sweet perfumes you might want to try the first Lolita Lempicka perfume (the purple bottle) and Nina by Nina Ricci (the candy apple)

Had both and they smelled delicious ! Very girly !

Dita Von Teese's perfume is amazing! I love it.

If you like sweet the Miss Dior Cherie my Chistian Dior is great, Lovely or Covet (purple) by SJP are great, Secret Wish by Anna Sui, Jordans original fragrance is quite sweet.

Thanks ladies. I will go and smell some tomorrow. I will be using it for evenings. So anything a bit sexy would be good

I am also picky about what I like. In order to find my scent, I would go to Sephora all the time and put a different scent on each wrist to try them out. I'd make sure to leave each scent on for at least 30 minutes before I decided if I liked it. Every woman's body reacts differently with the components of a perfume, so this is SO important. Gosh, I was in love with how Hilary Duff's perfume smelled, but on me it was a disaster. Waste of money!

Anyway, my go-to perfume is Chloe. I didn't like it when I first put it on, but then in the car on the way home, I kept sniffing my wrist and looooved it. It's rather sweet, but it's sophisticated and subtle. My boyfriend hates the smell of perfumes, but he says this one isn't bad. Apparently Nicki Minaj wears Chloe, and she's pretty kickass :)

Michael Kors has a couple really pretty scents.  His original is very nice.  It was my signature scent for years.  Then I moved on to Michael Kors Very Hollywood (the packaging on this is beautiful-ultra glam and feminine), which was my signature scent for a fews years too.  Currently, I switch between Kat Von D's Sinner and Dita von Teese's perfume.  Good luck finding a new perfume!

I do use chloe. Its ok,but a little bland. For the last few days i have been going into the pharmacy first thing spraying myself and checking scents and longevity. Longevity is quite important. There is nothing worse than finding a scent you like ,buying it and it only lasting a couple of hours

The perfumes I have found last really well were Dita's fragrance and of course Channel No 5.

I wore of few sprays of Ditas fragrance, wore it at work and was given lots of compliments all day, got changed and went to a Zumba class for an hour...when I came out all sweaty and horrible my friends in the car said she they were jealous as she could still smell the perfume on me and I smelt great! I was shocked....to me I was a sweaty mess lol. That did it for me, I knew then this stuff had the staying power needed. The only problem is it only sells at Liberty London store or online. When i went to the perfume signing I bought it without knowing at all if it would be any good, smelt it in the queue and went back and bought another! Very quickly made my way through 2 bottles and now on my third. She is making another fragrance so excited to see what thats like.

Alot of celebrity fragrances are actually really nice, SJP, Kate Moss, Dita, even some of Brittany Spears old ones. Plus they are cheaper too which is great. Oh and Benefit do some lovely perfumes too. Their latest one is real nice, Maybe Baby is one I always have in my collection which is their oldest fragrance.

I just bought Calvin Klein's "Euphoria Forbidden" it smells so clean and fruity...I also love Betsey Johnson's "TooToo"....so yummy!

Perfume is so individual that it is hard to render advice unless you are someone who knows many, many perfumes.  Luckily, the New York times has a perfume reviewer names Chandler Burr.  Since you tend to like sweet, clean scents, I would like to recommend Tommy Girl.  This is what I would call a "great" American perfume.  I simply do not buy perfume unless I absolutely love it.  "Like" isn't enough.  I see perfume as the most intimate part of my wardrobe, mostly because a person would have to be intimately close to me to catch the scent. So when I am shopping for scent, I try it on and wear it for several hours before I decide to buy.

Vanilla is very popular in perfumes right now, mostly because men love it.  However, I find dabbing on a high quality vanilla extract holds better than most vanilla based perfumes and is much cheaper.

If you are looking for a more vintage vibe, I would recommend White Shoulders, Arpage, or if you have some money to spend, Joy, which was the most popular and expensive perfume in America after WW2.

Check out Chandler's reviews.  He is a scream to read and can describe scents more accurately than anyone I know.

I will indeed check this out. Thanks

--- Guerlain girl all the way. Their fragrances are ultrafeminine but never too intrusive (if applied tastefully) and the vintage-inspired bottles are works of art.

Idylle EDP and Shalimar Parfum Initial are so beautiful for fall/winter.

Idylle is more subtle and very sweet with just a hint of mystery. Definitely a great scent for daytime/work.

Shalimar Parfum Initial has a lot of personality but does not pack quite as amber-y a punch as its' 'grandma'.. the original Shalimar. It is a lot softer and beautifully powdery. I have had strangers stop me on the street asking me what I'm wearing!

The Aqua Allegoria scents are lighter, more fun, sunny, fresh and effervescent.. not to mention lighter on the wallet! There are a lot of them, so you can pick and choose.. each one has a distinct personality and smells lovely. Perfect for summer or for just a sunny afternoon cocktail with a girlfriend.

I have yet to try the Petite Robe Noire and am super excited to do so!!!

Hope this helps.. I've worked in prestige cosmetics and fragrances for a number of years and have smelled every fragrance under the sun and helped countless people find their perfect scent!! I always come back to Guerlain.. to me, it is the very best.

I had l'instant magic a few years back which i loved. Petite robe noire smells of black cherries, it's rather scrummy
