A weekend spent entirely in pinup . . .

So, I went to a retreat center in the woods this weekend. The event is probably too specific to explain here (it's sort of a reenactment/roleplaying activity, but more of a fantasy-ish one than a historical one so there's a wide range of possibilities for what people can do), but basically there are a lot of people who attend who are very devoted to wearing costumes they've worked extensively on.  For various reasons I have been a little bit ill so I wasn't able to participate in the re-enactment in the way I ordinarily am able to.

Given this background, I decided that I was going to wear pinup dresses ALL WEEKEND.  Specifically, a different dress for every meal. I sometimes wore jeans late at night when it was extremely cold.

I kept my promise, and it was AMAZING.

Friday dinner: a pinup-style red dress which is actually a repurposed bridesmaid's dress from David's Bridal (yes really), real nylons with a garter belt, black heels. red hair flower.

Saturday breakfast & daytime: Bettie Page Sunny Days, with a wide-brim hat with mixed color flowers on it (so very Kentucky Derby style - there were horses involved in this part of the re-enactment so that made sense). Practical socks & shoes. Pearls. Black rose-shaped earrings.

Saturday lunch: The Anna with red & white polka dots, red hair flower, slide sandals with little kitten heels. a different pearl set.

Saturday evening: a wiggle dress that was a thrift store find but is kind of a cross between the Greta in style and the Micheline in powder blue in materials (so black lace & blue solid). silver necklace made of beads that refract light and can create a disco ball effect in the right conditions, matching earrings, big silver hairbow. I chose practical flats since after dark it's easy to trip on gravel, twigs, etc, but paired them with stripey silver stockings. A couple of layers under this dress, and over the dress.

Sunday morning: I wore Luscious in Mint with the same wide-brim hat this time with pink flowers, with a little white starched apron, black heels, black stockings. Pearls. Black rose-shaped earrings.

Sunday afternoon: The Anna with red & white cherries, same accessories as with the other Anna.

Sunday pinup-style bathing suit for hot-tub time: a cute little bikini I picked up which is bright pink with black polka dots, paired with my kitten heel slides and a pink hair flower.

I got SO many compliments on my clothes (and gave so many).  I felt so happy to have set and achieved a personal goal in spite of having been unable to participate in the main event, and I actually have been wearing dresses every day since (I'm off from work for a couple days to decompress).  This was AMAZING.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I'm kind of curious about the name of the event though!

Katherine, it all sounds so, as you said, AMAZING! But my friend, you have got to get photos when you look so good!

Thanks everyone for the comments, but there aren't photos, and the fact that there are no cameras allowed is one reason I feel so safe at this event.
