Hey girls! So, my hair is naturally fine and straight and pretty limp.  It is difficult to get it to curl and so far impossible to make it hold the curl for long.  I've tried pin curls, rollers, braiding, curling iron, mousses, and hairspray, and even if I get a nice curl at first, it will pretty much fall and straighten itself out within a couple of hours. I'm desperate to get the lovely pinup curls, and I've tried everything I can think of, so any tips would be much appreciated!  Thanks :)

Mine is also fine, and a bit challenging. What I find helps is minimal stimulation of the scalp when washing and minimal use of conditioners (or even none if the hair is healthy), as well as not using too much shampoo. If you stimulate the oil glands, either by too much massaging or over-drying the scalp, your hair gets oilier and weighed down faster. I find, for me anyway, curls hold the best if wet set the night before and left overnight to dry, with a thin towel wrapped around to soak up excess water and keep the pins in place. I use whatever mousse, gel or setting lotion is in the house at the time, usually my son's or hubby's gel diluted with water. You might actually try going to one of those hairdressers the little old ladies still go to. Back in the day, it wasn't uncommon to have a wash and set once a week and somehow have the hair look decent for days. If you're lucky, you may find an elderly hairdresser who can help with your issue. :)

I also have fine hair; pin curls work for me IF I use a solution of water and alcohol to dampen my hair before setting; and the set has to stay in for a very long time--like, all day rather than just an hour or so.  Foam curlers also work well for me, but again they have to be in for a long time.  The other thing that really works is cooking; if you can get a hair dryer with the bag that covers your hair, and sit under that for a LONG time, like 45 minutes or an hour, that set will last for days!  Good luck!

I have thick, bone straight hair that I have finally figured out how to curl after years of curls falling out, so maybe this will help you. The best way that my hair curls is sleeping in rollers, but I've found that rag-style curers are pretty comfortable, like these: http://www.amazon.com/10-PCS-PILLOW-SOFT-CURLERS/dp/B001V9EMOO/ref=...

You just have to take a few nights to get used to them...and I will warn you, your significant other may never get used to them, so I make sure I put mine in last thing before I go to sleep, just in case ;)

What I do is spritz my hair with a leave-in conditioner (I use It's A 10) so that the hair is damp but not wet. Then I roll my hair with the rollers, then put a curler bonnet, bandana, or scarf over my head to keep the curlers in place while I sleep. Anything that lets air in so the hair will dry will work.

Hi, Georgia!

I am sure you may have heard about stars having their hair styled while "dirty". Well the "dirty" part is half the battle. If you know you want to have your hair curly the day before an event or the next day, do not wash your hair; if you have used product, that's fine as well. I see you're a brunette;they have dry shampo, which is basically a powder based cleaner whic you shake onto your hair gently work into the scalp and then brush out briskly. What this does is break down the chemical feel (the stickies, the hardness that hairspray, gel, etc can leave) and then gives it a nice luster. The other plus is the one that pertains to you; it actually COATS your hair strands and THIS makes products STICK to the coating and thus gives amazing volume and curls that LAST, especially on caucasian hair. Use dry heat to crl your hair after this process then set style with a nice holding hair spray of your choice. If you use ceramic curling irons, an extra boost to your hold would be to use a thermal spray which has a bit of hold to it, but works well with a regular hairspray as well. You will find that your hair not only holds, but has that "star" shine" to it, without being brittle. Use dry shampoo made for brunettes as you don't want a dulling powder look that would normally give a blonde a super shine. Happy curling!

I have terribly fine hair and drop conditioning all together. I found putting more layers in my hair kept the weight from pulling my curls down. I swear by using setting lotion which is essentially witch hazel, alcohol and water and that holds my curls really well. As for dirty hair my hair stopped being soo greasy when I started using setting lotion all the time, I suppose it helps dry it out a little.

So the first picture is natural brows. The second is with the left brow done. What I'm asking you ladies is some critic on it as I've never actually done my brows before I don't want to look silly. Continue
