I am a huge PUG fan and have never had an issue with any of their garments until now. I am struggling to find a way to keep my cigarette pants from turning me into a smurf. I tried soaking them in white distilled vinegar and water for five hours then machine washing in cold water and leaving to dry on a rack. Even pulling them out of the wash turned my hands blue again and left blue drip lines down my wall where they are hanging on a towel rack to dry. Has anyone had this problem? I checked the reviews on the PUG website to see if this was common but out of all 14 reviews not one person mentions the severe bleeding. I am wondering if I got a faulty pair but not sure if I can return them at this point. It is very frustrating as these jeans are spendy and after so much deliberation between getting a pair of Freddies of Pinewood or the Deadly Dames I went with the latter. If anyone else has had this problem and found a remedy please share with me! I love these jeans and desperately want to wear them.

I don't own these pants, but it sounds like indigo dye is the problem. It sheds like a beast. Since vinegar hasn't worked, I would try a product like Retayne. You can get it in shops that sell quilting fabric or places that sell supplies for hand-dying fabric. Usually it's used for fabrics that have been hand-dyed but you can use it on factory-dyed items, too.

Amazon carries it, too.

Thank you, I ordered some retayne this morning online. I sure hope that does the trick.

Hi Jinny,

If this works let me know I have the same problem.

Thanks :)

Joanna

So I have yet to receive the retayne but I washed them again in cold water with about a half salt shakers worth of table salt and that seemed to do the trick. I did not dry them either time that I washed them just carefully reshaped the pants and hung to dry on a towel rack. I wore them for a whole day without any blue skin but some of the dye did wear off on the long line bra I was wearing. Not a lot but just keep that in mind if you plan on tucking a light colored shirt into the pants.
