I basically grew up at the Sacramento Autorama.  My dad had numerous cars in it over the years and was friends with the gentlemen that ran it.  I've turned my share of wrenches over the years with dad to say the least.  Dad brought home a few classics for me that sadly I never got to keep.  So I was thrilled when my husband said it was time for me to pick out a car ;)

The T-Bird was not on my radar of cars (I was looking for a 54 or 55 Buick) but the minute I sat behind the wheel I knew it was my car.  It just felt right.  So my '62 T-Bird is my baby.  She needs a lot of love being about 90% original.  She drives though so that's what matters right now. Priority #1 is seatbelts since I've got kids and feel like a bad mom without seatbelts.   When we have a little more $$ I'll start working on the most glaring of issues (upholstery!).  I call her Tinker Bird since we'll always have to tinker with something on it ;)

She's a beauty, Cari. Thanks so much for posting the pictures.

When I started restoring my Chevy, I knew it was going to be a long process. I had to do the interior completely--she was metal and torn upholstery--and the exterior needed new skin and paint, plus new trim, as well as an engine rebuild. I purchased all original pieces and NOS for all of the interior and exterior trim, and despite deciding to fill most of the holes and not replacing most of the chrome trim, I don't regret getting original pieces. There were reproductions available, but it was great getting original pieces with history. The restoration was a long process, but I so loved it. It is definitely a labor of love.

I'd love to see pictures of the restoration as you go. It sounds like you may be dong some of the wrenching yourself, which is completely cool. :)
