I've noticed that everyone (mostly) has a cute/beautiful Pin-Up Name associated with them. How did you come up with the name? I would love to create one, but I would love to know how everyone came up with theirs (and taking suggestions for mine!)! Please share and discuss!!!

Permalink Reply by cela hyatt on July 21, 2012 at 7:01pm I noticed that you found your pinup girl name ;) I don't go by an alias on here, but I have a model/roller derby name that I have been saving for when I have time to start playing roller derby...I decided to start using it as a model alias recently. My alias is "Abby Normal", I got it from Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" when Igor goes to get the brain and he drops the genius brain, he picks up another jar that he thinks has a name on it "Abby Normal" but it actually says abnormal. I always thought that scene was hilarious and it stuck with me. I am going to be a psychiatrist so I though it was a fitting name for me ;)

I think you bring up a super interesting topic. There are so many darling and creative names floating around the pinup world, so why not dig into their history a bit?
Initially, my name wasn't intended for me. Let me explain...
I am lucky enough to have an amazing job as a song writer/artist developer. What this means is I co-write material for, stylize, and brand every music artist I work with. Babydoll Carson was a name I had thought up while brainstorming stage names for a pop artist I was working with at the time. She ended up going with a different name, which was a HUGE relief because I secretly wanted to keep Babydoll to myself.
Truth is I've got some big plans for Babydoll. I'm currently writing a rockabilly record and fixing to get a band together by the end of the summer. I never had the nerve to live the pinup lifestyle or pursue my own career as a music artist, so taking on the alias of Babydoll Carson represents a new beginning for me.
So that's my story! Can't wait to hear everyone else's :)
Permalink Reply by Double O Jenn on July 21, 2012 at 10:48pm Ok, so I chose the name Double O Jenn (instead of O O Jenn, which i thought would be misread way too much) because in order to do my blog, I will be doing it "secretly." I've always wanted to be a spy, and despite not having seen a single James Bond movie ever (or read the books, which I understand are great!), Double O Seven has always stuck with me. Just a slight modification and it's been stuck in my brain. I figured that it's a good way to go... lol. And I will go more into the "secret" when I post my intro to the blog, probably tomorrow night. I'm having a great time getting all the stuff together for the first "real" issue with Lucille Ball as the inspiration!! Who knew? Psych and Pin-Up... go figure! And I so love roller derby (I unfortunately can't do roller derby... *sigh*) and am a musician (or was, back in the day...), so I love the stories!!
Thanks for sharing!! <3 Double O... =)
Permalink Reply by cela hyatt on July 22, 2012 at 6:29am I love it, you should totally take pictures like the james bond intro image! I dont know if it is copywritten to be able to use it for your blog...have to look into that. People use the charlies angels pose all the time.
Permalink Reply by Double O Jenn on July 22, 2012 at 7:42am i love charlie's angels!!! (even the cheesy re-boots!) they were the reason i wanted to become a spy (because that's what I thought they were when I was little -- yep, old enough to have watched the original...lol). I think if I modify the graphic a little (maybe a PUG instead of james bond??? hmmm...) I may be able to use it. And switched to blogspot... seems to be easier to use, which is huge for a non-techno like me. And I get to upload my own themes, designs, pics, etc for free (as opposed to wordpress, which charges).
