Greetings everyone!

I'm starting to accumulate a fair number of swing dresses, PUG and other brands. Most of these are halter tops or otherwise totally inappropriate for work on top, but the skirts are great.

I work in a casual environment, but while I see a few tshirts and jeans, it's generally a little classier than that which is why I'd feel comfy wearing my skirts. Most people wear nicer shirts over jeans - i.e. sweaters or cardigan type things over fitted jeans with flats for women, button up shirts with sweaters or polos over jeans for the men.

I'm interested in ideas for tops that would look good over the tops of these swing dresses to cover up  my boobs.  They don't have to be period or PUG.

Cheers and thanks,

Katherine

I usually wear cardigans actually :) they look great, you can unbutton them a little if they are too warm, and they are very versatile.

I also sometimes put a shirt on under the dress and then pair it with a bolero to even the look out a little.

You could also probably wear a fitted shrug or sweater over it so long as it is tight in the waist (or with swing + loose waist it looks really bad)

I have the same problem as you - I work in a spine surgeon's office and we have a very strict dress code policy (it was just last summer we were finally allowed to go without nylons lol). I have taken to wearing PUG skirts (Jenny, Doris, etc) because I can pair them with a boat neck top (be it sleeveless, long sleeve, short, etc). I've tried shrugs and cardigans over my PUG dresses but unless I button them up to my neck they still don't cover up the cleavage haha. I've seen people wear regular sweaters over their dresses (so they look like skirts) but I've never tried that - I worry about it looking too bulky.

A little cropped cardigan would look darling, I'm sure! If you are worried about bulk, then maybe try a bolero instead? I have a few which I've bought cheaply from Ebay - they're great for covering shoulder and arms but still showing off a lovely looking dress.

Depending on the dress as well, maybe a fitted plain white polo shirt? I have one I bought from H&M which looks great under a couple of sweater-vests I have (which worn alone look a little too 'booby' on me), and look very 1940's.

I agree with the cardigan, super cute with swing dresses! I also have various shrugs to drape over my shoulders. You can get fancy ones and comfy/casual ones.

I agree with everyone on the cardigan idea - Old Navy (i know, i know) actually has cute cropped 3/4 sleeve cardigans in a myriad of colors right now for only $15.  I also like boleros (PUG has a great one, or heartbreaker fashion)

Cardigans are a must. Target actually has good quality ones for. $15-20 for work.
