PUG for Work, PUG for Play, PUG for life (A Review of Separates)

Greetings beautiful PUGsters!

I'll preface my review by saying that I work in a project management position in an academic medical setting in NYC, so when purchasing PUG, I always have to consider if I'll be able to wear that item to work.  Sadly, I spend more time at the office than anywhere else and commute almost 3 hours each day, so I generally try to purchase *somewhat* practical items, and stay within the bounds of decency for professional purposes.  Luckily, we don't have an official dress code and my colleagues are pretty casual about what they wear.  I particularly like to wear separates to work, so this is a review of some of my PUG separates.

Today, I got the much expected PUG package and squealed with delight, as I knew it contained a vamp top and jenny skirt! What a great way to beat the Friday afternoon jitters.  As soon as I got home, I tried them on and decided I must write a review.

Here it is - Jenny in Tiki print and Vamp in Peach.  Both in XS.

Vampy Jenny

I wish I could take credit for this amazing color combination, but I saw it on a fellow lovely PUGster on this site (so if it was you and you are seeing this, you inspired me!).  The Jenny is so lovely and full, with tons of pleats and a high-quality, heavy fabric.  It seems that this skirt will withstand some wind without inciting an inopportune Marilyn moment.  The color is lovely as well - mostly a vintage yellow with hints of green, pink, and black.  As far as the Vamp, I think the peach version runs similarly to the others.  I have the baby blue and tiger print and the fit is identical to the baby blue (I think the tiger print runs slightly smaller).  My waist is 24 (+ or - 0.5 inch), and the XS jenny is a perfect fit, but I cannot afford to gain another inch. I'm 5'2 and it hits right below the knee. I threw on a cropped cardigan over it ($15 at Old Navy, who would have thought) to make this outfit work-appropriate.

So, I raved about my Jenny...but Doris is still my #1 homegirl.  I love both, but there is something about the silhouette of a Doris that is particularly dear to my heart <3  Here is the Sean top in black (XS) and burgundy doris (S). The doris is ahhmazing - hits a few inches below the knee and is super classy.  The material is middleweight (lighter than the doris) and slightly sheen.  It's gorgeous, in other words.  The only downside is that it does tend to wrinkle easily, even though I am very careful with it. I'm grinning like a fool because this outfit makes me happy.

I also pair the sean top with the Perfect Pencil skirt (I have 3 - white pin dot, cherries, and leopard), here is a photo of the leopard.  I get the pencil skirts in a size small and get the waist taken in, although I haven't done it on the leopard one yet in this photo but you can't tell that much, there is just a huge gap in the back.

I'm so bummed that I missed out on the Olive green and Red sean tops in XS before they sold out.  These tops are great, and great for work, everything from the detail on the cuffs of the sleeves to the upside down zipper, to the way it sucks you in is perfection embodied in a garment of clothing.

And just for fun...the Netti dress! Perfect for summer and I can definitely put a bolero over it for work.  I got it in an extra small and it's a tight squeeze. Hopefully I won't need to take deep breaths when I wear it.  I was originally going to return it as it's shorter than I normally like my dresses to be (hits just above the knee), but decided to keep it, this cat lady needs this print.

Please excuse the portrait of glaring Beethoven which creeped into some of my photos.  He's a disapproving fella.

XOXO

You look amazing Lady K!! I'm now considering pieces that I hadn't really looked into before, thanks!

Thanks everyone for the kind words and compliments! Yes, I definitely believe that PUG is adaptable to work (although I'm sure there are exceptions to this, whether in a very formal work environment, or one where a uniform is required) and I'm glad I get to wear most of my PUG items to work.

Tahitia - haha I can't say that anyone has told me that before (about the pinup faces)! I think I was concentrating so hard on getting myself into the frame of the photo because I generally suck at taking selfies :)
