Hi ladies

It's Summer Down Under (in Australia) ;) ... This year, I want to be really sunsmart and do the right thing by my skin.  Anyone who lives in Aus or has visited will know our sun is HARSH!!!

I've been getting in the habit of wearing SPF 30+ every day, and sunglasses... But I really want to be able to add a HAT on super sunny days!

What style of sun hat can anyone recommend to suit a pretty pinup/rockabilly style?

I'm thinking a big floppy one will be cute with a bathing suit or romper...

A sun visor might be cute with shorts/capris...

Anything else someone can recommend?

Even better... BRANDS that do cute sun hats?

Help!

Hey Meghan,             gr8 topic 2 bring up, I hate the sun,& in Victoria where im living, if gets dam hot in summer, with those terrible north hot winds, I get burnt from a picture of the sun,, lol, I use a lot of paracels, but u seen 2 have your hands full when u have a hand bag as well, ive looked at a heap of pictures but cant seen 2 find the perfecft hat... I hope sme 1 come up with a few 4 us 2 choose from,   :)

I live in Australia too, and I am really keen on getting more parasols and hats. A lot of the popular clothing shops have nice hats for sale. I got a lovely navy and whit striped hat from Valleygirl a couple of weeks ago, for instance! Otherwise, I think you could look for inspiration in old movies and photographs and get custom-made hats from Ginger Vintage Headwear

My Aunt's friend runs this business and she's really good at it! Another great place are second-hand shops like Vinnies, they have some really, really old and beautiful hats a lot of the time.

Hope I was able to help, I'm sill trying to get some more hats myself.

Thanks Emma!

I have heard Valleygirl has some cute things, so I must go look!
I popped into Mimco and they have a very cute roll-up vistor from their "ratpack" 20's inspired range.

Speaking of vintage inspiration, I noticed a lot of headscarves. So I guess another great option is a few beautiful headscarves... you could always tie them around a sunhat too!

Love the bows from Ginger Vintage with the cherries, eep!

Yeah, headscarves are a great idea. I picked up a few vintage ones at some markets not too long ago. When I wear them, I feel like getting in a convertible and driving to the beach, haha.

Well good luck with your search x
