Marilyn Monroe Hairstyle
Ok, I have real long, thick, straight hair and I am getting sick of it so I was thinking about cutting it short and curling it, like Marilyn Monroe style.
My question is should I cut it in layers or just go for a bob. I am thinking layers would make my curls more full. Any suggestions?

Layers would achieve better bounce - especially as your hair is thick (otherwise it may just spring outwards) - but a chin length bob would definitely be the best cut for a Monroe style.
I had hair that length (albeit my hair is more of a medium thickness) with it slightly longer at the front: although it was the style to cut it shorter at the front - more of a page boy cut. This enabled the pin curls to fall better and have that sexy bounce at the front of the face or to be able curl it backwards (when you look at pics of a Marilyn cut, the curls frame around her face).
Go for it (and don't be afraid to show pics and describe to your hairdresser exactly what you want). My hair is below shoulder length now, and I'm always jealous of girls with shorter hair now! I wanted a change as I have a bob for a few years, but now I can't wait to go back at some point in the future and have a large number of inches cut off again!

Thank you for your response! I have had long hair for a long time now so I am nervous cutting it short, but I have been watching some Youtube videos as well to get an idea for how short to go :)
