What do I do? I've been bleaching my hair since last year and its still gummy when damp and frizzy dry (before I style it).

I do a hair mask once a week and really only wash my hair twice a week so my hair can build up its natural oils. I'v have tried out a few different shampoos and conditioners and I'm at my wits end.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

That is the way hair feels when its been over done...There is a fancy word for it Hydrolized (spelling is not right)...There is nothing you can do to fix it...Just a cut...But many girls have there hair like that...its fine styled wet it just feels ICKEY.... just make sure you use a heat protectent in your hair and a serum when styling...I had a instructor in beauty school that would say Her hair can stretch like a rubber band as long as its not breaking off (bleach can eat through your hair)...Sorry I don't have a magic elixir I could tell you about

A Redken Chemistry shot might help it feel a little better.  It will put some protein back in there.

You might have to visit the hair salon, my dear and have a urgent hair treatment!!!! And remember to always use heat protecting spray. It really helps plus makes  your hair look smooth and shiny!

I recently bleached my hair from black so that I could color it a vibrant purple. My hair felt like CRAP. Very gummy and impossible to comb when wet an straw like when dry. I bought the Joico, k pak reconstruct shampoo for damaged hair, and the conditioner k pak moisture intense hydrator for dry and damaged hair as well as a once a week treatment called k-pak deep-penetrating reconstructor. It works very well and my hair feels great now. I also use their leave in after towel drying. Good luck.

I went blonde twice... But, I finally decided that

1. I look SO MUCH better as a redhead or brunette, that it really didn't suit me or my personality as a blonde

and 2. The amount of work that went into being blonde - especially with having to do roots every couple of weeks - was so not worth the extra damage to my hair.

Some are meant to be blondes... the rest of us rock whatever else we can... ;) And I also found that the old adage "Blondes have more fun" is so not true!

Good luck!!
