Oh my, this is gorgeous! I think a lot of the women had a front section of their hair that was considerably shorter than the length and that gave the front a lot of freedom for rolls, pincurls, barrel curls etc. I've thought about this a lot and even considered cutting mine the same but I think if it wasn't 'done' all the time it would look kinda awful.
