Some friends and I are interested in learning to dance (swing? jive? I don't even know what it's called) so that we can hang out on the dance floor when we attend shows, Viva Las Vegas, etc. Anyone know of any community classes or relatively inexpensive classes in the downtown LA/Burbank area by any chance? We tried checking out dance lessons on youtube but forget it, I couldn't even keep up with that. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! :D
i've been hearing about lindy groove for a while, but haven't gotten up the nerve to go. it's in pasadena every thursday and it's pretty cheap; $8 cover charge, including lessons. https://www.lindygroove.com/ it could be fun to have a LA PUG group meet up!
Wow that's awesome!! We should check it out!!
My suggestion is also Pasadena based. The Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association has been around for more than twenty years I'd guess. The two sisters who run it are excellent dancers and are good teachers. I have friends who attend their teaching session on a regular basis. And they are quite happy with the classes. Oh, the sisters also sponsor dances on a regular basis.I have gone to a few of their dances over the years, but now that I think about it, I have never taken any of their classes.I also know that they cater to people of all ages and all dancing abilities. Check them out. And most importantly, HAVE FUN! http://pasadenaballroomdance.com/
This is great information, thanks Aoife!
Lindy Groove is a great place to learn. It's a fun and friendly environment and they also offer blues dancing lessons.
