One of the things I love to do is to go to afternoon tea, what people often mistakenly call High Tea. It is a good excuse to get all dressed up, to break out some of those vintage hats and to meet up with friends. I am not sure if any of you PUGsters are interested in a tea meet up. So I am writing this to see if there is indeed any interest in this activity.
Most of the tea rooms I am familiar with are in the Pasadena area. The Langham Hotel and Huntington Library have great teas but are both quite pricey. I do have a bunch of guest passes for the Huntington so if we tried to do something there I could probably get everyone in for free. But I guess that depends on how many would go. The Chado Tea room in Old Town is nice and is fairly inexpensive. And there are at least a couple more I know about.
I have a free Saturday on March the 16th. We could make the tea about 2 or 3 PM.
I guess that I am still excited after our meet up this past Saturday. And I would love to do more things. It may be too soon to actually schedule something like this. But at least I thought I would put the idea out there. Let me know what you think ladies.
That's so cute!!!!
March 16th, I have a mandatory work meeting and also a belly dance show is going n here in Bakersfield, so I am stuck into this town that day :(
23rd is good for me is that ever becomes a possibility.... But if not you should all meetup and take pics!!!!
OK, I have looked at my calendar. I agree that March is too soon for another group meet up. So it looks like
Saturday April 20th will be the date. That will give everyone a chance to recover from Viva. And it will give me some time to plan it. I will post a new topic when I actually set this up. Oh and I will talk about appropriate attire.
Is Sunday not a possibility???
I am mostly free in April in the first half, but 20th, I have all day workshops and a show I am dancing at in the evening. Then the next week I'll leave to go to Turkey.
I could stay overnight and fo for Sunday tea time on 21st if thatd work.
Also I think our attire should be like super sweet pinup like Stepford Wives... hat do you think of that??? :)
I am refreshing this topic. I am still trying to organize a tea party on Saturday April the 20th. I figured that I would make another stab at this now that Viva is over. (I hope that all of you who went had an incredible time.)
Afternoon tea is an occasion type of event. People often mistakenly refer to it as high tea. High tea is more like supper. Most teas consist of scones, a few finger sandwiches and some sweets such as little cakes. Traditionally it was a time to dress up for the afternoon. Hats are often worn. Wrist length gloves are a nice accessory. And of course a pretty dress or skirt/blouse combo also works. Lots of PUG clothing is totally tea worthy.
Well maybe I am going a bit overboard here but I will show three pics of me having afternoon tea. These were all taken at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena. That way you can get some idea how I have dressed.
If you are interested and you can come on the 20th please let me know ASAP. I should make reservations somewhere.
Thanks for replying. It looks like it will just be Dorthy and myself. But that will be fine. Dorthy and I will be able to get to know each other. And I guarantee we will have fun. And another guarantee, there will b photos! I have already made reservations but I can add additional people just in case anyone is able to join us.
