Monica Alterations - any advice?

I recently got a Monica in red, and on the top half it's absolutely great.  Pushes up, ruching is flattering - all is great.  But on my bottom half, it just flattens my bum out!  Has anybody had any experience altering these dresses?  I'm wondering how possible it would be to remove the stretch material from the inside layer at the back, just on the bottom half, and replace it with something more stretchy. . . 

Has anyone tried to do this or similar already?
