How to Run a Pinup Contest

Hey everyone :) I'm writing today because I remembered how back during the summer there were a few posts here about ladies entering, going to or just taking in a Pinup Contest/Beauty Pageant in their respective areas. I've also seen pictures from quite a few on Instagram.

Now sadly I haven't been lucky enough to have one of these Pinup Contests in my area, so I'm thinking about solving that problem by organizing my own. They really seem like a great fun way to bring women together that share a passion for pinup/rockabilly themes and the lifestyle in general, it's a no brainer :)

Now since I've never been to one of these contests, I was wondering if someone who HAS could actually give me some tips on how to run one. Tips like how many judges usually judge an event? If there are rounds (evening wear and swimwear) to the competition or if it's just a single round? What sort of prizes are usually awarded? Most importantly how do you advertise one of these contests/shows?

So yeah, as you can see I have NO idea how to put one of these together, but I really want to learn how. I've had such an amazing time here on Pinup Girl Style meeting like minded ladies that I think it's time to organize my own first get together. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated :)

All the contests that I've seen in my area are associated with the car shows/events.  I am participating in a pageant in a couple weeks that is being put on by the "Battle Born Days" people.  Battle born Days is a military festival/ reenactment event put on for the last couple years, they are doing civil war and WWII reenactments over the weekend of the 26th-28th and the proceeds go to help veterans.  This year they decided to have a pageant to find a "Bomber Girl" who will be the face of the event for next year, they want a 1940s pinup style girl.  They are having 3 judges, we have 15 "finalist" who will be judged based on style/looks, poise, and interactions with the public (we have to go mingle at the event), then we have a USO dance (im super excited) for more judging, then the pageant where the judges will narrow it down to the top 3 girls.  The winner is then chosen based on the audience. This is the first pageant i've done since I was a kid, so I will let you know more after its done :)
