Nice to meet you! Wow you're accomplished :), what do you write if I may ask? Backpacking across Europe definitely sounds like an experience! Do you mostly have repro or actual vintage?
I've been doing freelance journalism for a few years but it's just a side gig; there's not much money in journalism anymore. I do creative writing as well and am hoping to start publishing soon. I'll probably start with short stories in literary magazines and aim for books once I've gotten more life experience.
Yeah it was the best thing I ever did! I loved it. I really want to go back.
I own mostly vintage. I have just a handful of repro pieces. I'm pretty good at thrifting and getting bargains on vintage pieces--I think the most I've paid is $20 for some 50s high waisted jeans.
I'm a freelance writer/journalist, been doing it for a few years as well ^_^, I'm also currently living abroad in Europe but no backpacking for me :P, I should do it. I'm writing a book as well but I've been way too busy with work lately to work on it but I'm on the second draft. I have to say we have a ton in common :D
Oh wow, that's awesome! I'd love to do that when I graduate from university (this year!). That or working in a publishing house. Where are you living in Europe? I'm hoping to move to Germany this fall. :)
Congratulations on reaching the second draft! That's quite a feat. What genre is it? And I'd have to agree! It's always wonderful to meet another writer and travel-lover.
writer, travel lover, vintage lover, same measurements, woohoo, we're getting somewhere...
It's sci-fi, aliens, big guns, blood and mayhem... that sort of thing... nothing life-changing just fun
I'm in the Netherlands, so pretty close by to Germany :D What are you studying at uni?
The measurements thing is spooky! Thus far I've never met anyone who's had my exact measurements.
That sounds great! My thing is mid-century American fiction (to read and write) but I have a soft spot for sci-fi.
I'm in the process of finishing up my English undergraduate degree. I'm planning on getting a masters degree in publishing or library studies, but first I'm taking a year off to work in Europe. I really want to work in Germany so I can make use of my language skills.
This seems like a good place to get started...
Hello! I'm Jessica. I've been a huge fan of vintage and pinup style for a long time, but it's only in the past year or so that I've really embraced it. I tend to buy more vintage clothing, but lately I've been looking at a lot of reproduction pieces for ease of wear and durability.
I'm really excited to be part of this community, and I look forward to getting to know you all.
I guess I have a pretty mixed vintage/repro wardrobe as well, although I find the repro styles to be a little nicer in terms of stretch fabrics and stronger seams. I'm actually afraid to spend too much on vintage pieces for that reason so i haven't really gotten anything really nice from the 40s/50s just a few skirts/slips/the like.
Nice to meet you!
This is my Instagram if anyone is interested...
I followed you from mine :)
Following you. I'd love if you could follow me as well. instagram.com/jessicaebacher
