What shapewear to use with the Erin dress (or any form-fitting bengaline dress)?

Hello beauties! :)

I just ordered a Medium Erin dress in Lucky Green. It's very nice, but something's not quite right and I don't feel comfortable: my lumps and bumps show up and it's not necessarily flattering.

Here's the thing: I'm relatively fit, so it makes me uncomfortable that the Erin makes me look 'un-fit'. I think it's because of my pear shape: I'm 36A - 28 - 42. Which means, of course, that the Medium Erin is tight around my wide shoulders, loose around my small chest, tight at the waist, and pulls wildly at my hips.

Any time I look up pics of other PUGs wearing this dress, the bengaline looks so, so smooth. And PUGs give the material rave reviews! I desperately need to find the right undergarments to make it work for me.

What is your favorite smoothing shapewear to wear under the Erin dress?

I don't have the Erin dress, but it sounds like you might want to consider a corselette, What Katie Did and Rago are the two brands that I would recommend, though my personal preference is for WKD

Thanks so much! I will look into this. :)

I'd agree that a corselette would be good choice however that is a very slinky dress so the garter snaps will likely show through the material and theneckline is not condusive to the thick straps of most corselettes. Although they are anything but retro the Spank skips and shapers will do the job much better.

The WKD corselettes have regular bra straps, not thick straps like most corselettes (http://www.whatkatiedid.com/en_gb/product/517/figure-shaping-retro-...), and the thing with suspender straps is either to suck it up or wear a slip to conceal them :)

I ended up purchasing a WKD Glamour Underbust Corselette, but sadly had to return it.

It was GORGEOUS and extremely well-made, but bunched up along the sides of my torso. I believe this is because of my awkward waist-to-hip ratio (I purchased according to my hip size, as recommended).

Also, the front seams of the corselette showed up under every one of my vintage outfits, so I just couldn't justify keeping it (at that price).

That's a shame :(  I have a "traditional" waist-to-hip ratio of ~10", if yours is bigger perhaps Rago might be the brand for you?

Thank you...will look into Rago! :) My waist-to-hip ratio is 14", so I tend to have to size up for the hips.

In a pinch, I purchased ASSETS® by Sara Blakely (a Spanx® Brand) Women‘s High-Waist Mid-Thigh Super Control Shaper from Target, as an affordable in-the-meantime solution! Obviously not glamorous, but I'm impressed that the shaper stays put under my bust, and doesn't roll up at my thighs. :)
