Sorry to be so nosy, but I am a little curious about what parts of the world everyone here lives in because I am interested to know what sort of reception PUG and just wearing repro in general gets in other countries!

I live in Australia but have been living in Moscow, Russia for nearly two months. In Australia I live in Brisbane and I am yet to run into anyone dressed remotely vintage. Most of the time when I go out I get a lot of stares which normally ends up with me dishing out a lot of glares because I hate it when people stare...lol. Normally teenagers can be pretty nasty, but every now and then you do get some sweet person that comes up to chat about what I'm wearing. What is it like where you live, what kind of reactions do you get when you wear vintage/reproduction clothing? Are there others that wear anything similar?

In Russia I have gotten some stares from wearing PUG, but only in the good sense I think! I have noticed that there are quite a few women here usually in their 30s, who wear either real vintage (50s and 60s style) or modern vintage inspired dresses. On one occasion I saw a man in his 40s wearing what looked like completely authentic vintage 1950s/early 60s, dressed for a day at the office. Now keeping in mind that Russia is a developing nation, it could be that his look was completely unintentional and thrifted on account of how poor people are here, but either way he looked fantastic!

So what is it like in your parts of the world? I am really curious to know!

Yvette - I moved to Denver from Florida a couple years ago and it was such a culture shock!

I've never been to Florida, but the style here is so laid back.

New York City here!

I actually don't think we have much of a vintage scene here, you sometimes get crossover with folks from Brooklyn who dress like Zooey Deschanel from that show New Girl (so cute sundresses and the like) but I think for straight vintage/re-pro we don't really have a lot. I work near the empire state building and I actually see more tourists in the style than anyone else. I guess since we're such a fashion driven town it's more about whats in style NOW as opposed to classic style?

For the most part the only people who comment on my PUG clothes tend to be older ladies I run into on the subway or walking down the street. I'll get appreciative looks from guys when I wear my vamp top but other than that I mostly just get O_o faces or snickering. Sometimes I think there should be a monthly get together/drink soiree with other PUG minded fans here (I know I'm not the only one, a girl wore the Micheline dress to the Mermaid Parade at Coney Island!) so we can be our own private island of awesome on an island that is fairly...whacked. Haha :)

I'm from NYC too! VERY few girls who dress rockabilly out here. I only know a handful of us :)

New York City...very few pinups and rockabillies out here!

I'm from the beautiful Pacific Northwest (specifically the Tacoma area of Washington state).  My particular area is a little weird to describe.  I'm not 100% in the country, not really suburb and not exactly big city.  The majority of styles around here are either country looking or the awful PJ/Ugg/slutty wearing look (or just as bad are the skinny jean wearing boys!).  I have yet to embrace the full on PUG look so for me it's just been little vintage touches here and there, mostly accessories.  I think I'd probably get stared at out in public but my immediate family/friends wouldn't be surprised and tell me that I could rock it ;)  Being a stay at home mom I can't quite afford full on PUG just yet but I have a few patterns I might break out and see what I can make for myself.

Yay PNW! :)

Kingston, Ontario, Canada! There's the odd car show around here, I'll get dressed up and check out the rides, especially if they have a band. I also like to rock PUG on date night, even if it's a "casual" date. Most people just check my style out, few will compliment (similarly to prior posts, usually ladies) and I've NEVER heard (possibly intentionally?) anything negative. For the most part I can almost always hear somebody saying something about my shoes rather than my dress.

I constantly hear girls complain about how "chivalry is dead". That's only true to some degree, men stopped acting like gentlemen the minute we decided to stop acting like ladies. And come on, wearing your pjs to the grocery store is just not ladylike!

I'm from Sydney! Yay another Aussie. Haha

I live in Auckland, New Zealand. I'm a hairdresser and wear PUG every day to work and get lots of compliments from clients. I do get a lot of stares when I'm out and about. I think this is partly to do with the style but also because I am overdressed compared to most New Zealanders.

I havn't had any negative experiences and hopefully won't!

I live in the west of Ireland, on the coast in a little cottage over-looking the Atlantic. Myself and my other half recently moved out of Galway (a small city on the west coast) and into the countryside, about a 40 minute walk into the nearest village. I still dress in my vintage/vintage repro clothes every day, and do get some strange looks when I am out & about, but I also get plenty of compliments ^_^ A teenage boy asked me if I was famous recently, lol! I guess because I present myself differently to the norm. There aren't a lot of people living around here, full-stop, let alone people who dress in vintage clothing. But it is beautiful ^_^

I live in Texas and I always get a lot of stares. I go out in full 50's house wife wear, petticoats, fully swing skirts of swing dresses or wiggle dresses with 6 inch heels. My motto is go out looking like a starlet - because it makes me feel good about myself. If I feel good I do good by just myself and other people! :) I do get a lot of people stopping me to ask where I get my things and I always tell them Pin up girl cloths, sometimes I will get asked why I am wearing the dresses...I just tell them I like feeling and looking like a lady! I am also just 24 so I am pretty young so a lot of girls my age don't get it
