I noticed lots of active new ladies on here so I wanted to say hi! Feel free to introduce yourself as I don't bite (except at Halloween).

That's so great!! What do you cosplay? Do you go to cons? I'm on a sort of con hiatus right now for lack of funds, but in June, I'm visiting some friends in Philly for a PMMM photoshoot at the Magic Gardens 8) I'm going to be Mami and I'm pretty excited =)

I'm going to NYCC this year! I do mostly sci-fi/gaming costumes. Here are a few. :D

Have you been to NYCC before? I've never been, but I want to go so bad! It always looks so amazing. I usually go to Otakon, but I probably won't go this year. It's getting way more expensive than it's worth 8(

OMG I love your Kaylee one even though I wasn't in to Firefly at all. But omg her parosal is so adorable and I've always wanted one.

This is my first time going to NYCC! I'm staying with some friends (my best friend) who live in NYC so I'm majorly excited!

I followed you on tumblr and instagram! :)

I can totally relate to the job and school issues... I think a lot of us US girls are all in the same boat. Where in Cali are you looking to come back to??

Hi :)

I am Ariana and I'm 28. I live in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and I work a day job as a body piercer in a really wonderful local tattoo shop. I live with my boyfriend of four years and my sheltie and two black cats. I started getting into pin up style several years ago, when I met my friend Susy and was involved with the local roller derby league. I had always loved vintage looks but had no idea up until that there was such a wonderful sub-culture that revolved around vintage inspired fashion. My first dress was a little 40s style polka dotted wiggle, but have since grown out of that one and donated it to a friend. I've been rocking the Bettie Bangs for years but my wardrobe is pretty sparse at this time, as I haven't got a very large income, but I am adding little by little! I like to do lots of jeans and sneakers with cardigans shirts and belts. I love black, white, red, and mint green colors. I hate wearing heels, and only do if I have to, so
I'm always on the look out for cute comfortable flats. I only wear red lips and red nail polish, as I am not much of a pink person. It's so much fun to be a PUG and I'm a lifer at this point. I've been trying to read up more on collecting vintage items/furniture/etc. lately and really immerse myself into the lifestyle at this point. I am happy to be part of this site, lots of resources and ideas!

Hi!! That is so awesome that you do Roller Derby! I've wanted to do it for so long, but my busy schedule and the fact that I can't stay upright on roller skates for more than half a minute have been working against me 8P Do you have a fun Derby name? As for footwear, it's definitely a bit more on the pricier side (I haven't ordered from them yet for that reason), but Bait Footwear has BEAUTIFUL shoes, both heels and flats, a lot of which are retro inspired! I've heard great things about them though and look forward to buying some in the future =) Here's the website if you're interested in checking them out! Baitfootwear.com

It wasnt for long because i couldnt keep up with the time commitment but my name was tallusa la wreck like toulouse la trec:) it was fun and i still talk to a few of the girls :) i couldnt skate well when i started but you get better with practice, give it a shot sometime! Thanks for the shoe tip :)

if you look on PUG they have the most amazing pair of flat kitty shoes!! I personally thing being a retro girl is as much about attitude as clothes, and you can always hit up the thrift stores, you can find an amazingly lot of stuff there. Hope you love the site!

My name's Katrina and I'm a 21 year old from Calgary, Canada. I've been interested in vintage style for quite some time (I went through high school looking like I'd jumped out of the 1960s) but my interest in wearing 1940s-1950s fashions didn't start until last year. I was living abroad in England and came across a couple of vintage and pin-up shops, and was smitten. One year later and I've completely overhauled my look. I'd begun picking up retro pieces at vintage shops in England and while backpacking across Europe. Once I arrived back in Canada I slowly started to swap out my modern pieces for thrift store finds. I'd say my wardrobe is 85% vintage or vintage-inspired now; lots of circle skirts, high waisted pants, head scarves, etc. I adore my new look and so does my family, my boyfriend, and my friends. This style has given me a newfound confidence--I've never felt so beautiful!

Other "nostalgic" interests of mine include collecting old photographs of strangers and other antique bits and bobs, swing dancing, vintage hair styling, and cooking/baking from mid-century cookbooks. I'd love to dabble in modelling but am not quite sure where to start. Other tidbits about me: I'm a writer, I play the accordion, I love to hike and mountain climb, I'm obsessed with travelling, and I speak both French and German.

Lovely to meet all you ladies! :)
