Hey ladies!

I've noticed my eyesight is getting worse, I'm scheduling an appointment to have an eye exam but I'm pretty sure I'll need to wear glasses most of the time (I cant stand things in my eye so contacts aren't an option). I pretty much do this 'pinup' thing 24x7 these days, so I'd really like to find some vintage style frames that I can have my prescription put in to, the stores simply don't offer anything stylish enough! I envision something 40s\50s style with a little bit of a flair up and thick enough to hold a decent lens; I have feeling I'll need to wear them to drive, so a compact frame style frame wont work. Do any of you have any online resources for repro frames for prescription glasses? I see a few shops but I'd love some suggestions to help with my hunt.

Wow. That's kind of a loaded question. I too can't wear contacts. So I was looking for a vintage style a while back when I was looking at getting new glasses. What is your price range? The brand I bought is called Anne et Valentin. With frames and lenses, they cost about $400 US. Yep, pretty expensive. But I thought about it and was like these glasses will be on my face for a long time. I want something that I like because the last two pairs of glasses I owned weren't really me. They were kind of close but not really.

I will just jump in here for a sec. Thanks Kara Rexx for doing a posting here. I thought that this group was forgotten. Even I have not been posting here!

I don't have cat's eye frames. But I did get a prescription from my optometrist the last time I saw him. But since then, 6 months ago, my eyes have changed. But I think the next time I go for my appointment I will again get a prescription and then order some cool retro glasses.

Hey there! My suggestions are for actual vintage frames-I have a small head, so vintage frames fit me better than most modern ones. I've found that most modern frames don't have the same cat eye as vintage-most moderns are a bit "downcast"(if that makes sense) which droops your eyes. I have 2 pairs of vintage frames that are prescription, and have no issues.

So not sure where you are located, but there is a great store in Pasadena, CA called "Old Focals". http://oldfocals.com/ If you can get there, the shop is tiny, but full of frames of all kinds, obviously not all are listed on their website.

Another place you can try is Allyn Scura. They actually travel around, and I came across them at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena. They also carry vintage frames, but also their own designs. They made my cateye tortoiseshell sunglasses with no problems, and they were about $200 (lens and frame, and shipping it back to me since they are based in NorCal).

I just got these on glasses.com and I have a picture on my profile.  They are really cute and have a zebra design on the side (I got the pink ones).  Betsey Johnson has some really good glasses too for this style http://www.glasses.com/women-glasses/guess-gu2351/4512.html?dwvar_4...
