I'm trying to pick a shade of red for my hair. I have to work in a professional environment so it can't be 'flaming' or anything, but I would really love a 'Jessica Rabbit' type look. Does anyone have any suggestions for hair color?

thanks!

* I've had red before and I loved it , I had a REALLY bright red before but I can't now due to work being a bit more strict because I have to take meetings until the end of April, so wondering if any of you ladies have any suggestions for a 'real red' that isn't 'shocking'

:)

Thanks

Xoxo

I'm a fan of Christina Hendricks from Mad Men. She is gorgeous! I tried to do her color last year, but my hair is too dark :( To get her color, ladies with dark hair need to bleach first.

she has lovely hair (Okay lovely everything), and I definitely agree on the bleach!

What colour is your hair naturally? You need to pick a red that has an undertone to suit your colouring (eyes, skin, eyebrows - unless you dye them too) for it to look really stunning. But you can get away with a colour that might not suit you naturally by changing the colours and tones of makeup you use x

red really really suits me trust me , no worries with that I've had the red before so just trying to decide where to go this time. But naturally a dark brown hair, green undertones and very pale skin, green eyes, I'm like already 90% on my way to redhead just without the hair ha :)

I'd go for a dark brown/red. They sell a Schwarzkopf dye in the salon range (black boxes) that's beautiful x

slightly redder, Schwarzkopf 'Intense Red' looks good :)

I'd love to go red - but I know once you go down that route there's no turning back! If you're dark haired, I'd suggest going auburn and then you can always 'add' to the red if you feel braver. Maybe something along these lines:

Not sure if you get this brand where you are, but I like Nice and Easy - it's exactly as the name suggests!

This is what I use http://www.sallybeauty.com/red-hilights/SBS-500241,default,pd.html  it is the color of my hair in my pictures.  They also have a more magenta and a more orange.  I like the magenta one, its a bit darker.  The swatch on the website is not a good portrayal of the color, its way brighter.  The nice thing is its made for dark hair and you don't have to pre-bleach.  I'll keep looking :)  Have you thought about just putting a semi-permanant color on top of your natural hair to give it a reddish tint?  That could help with the "professional" look you need to maintain.

I have but I can't find it here in the Netherlands, i actually found someone who sells it in the UK but they haven't yet replied about shipping, :), I'm thinking if I can't find anything I'll just wait until the 'meeting period' is over and then the L'Oreal looks really nice! thank you!

Can I recommend using Henna? I'm a natural redhead, but living in Florida has bleached my hair nearly blonde.
Not too happy about that, since I don't rock that shade.
So I started using Henna!
A bit messy, but no harmful chemicals, and it will usually turn out in a very VERY natural looking red (unless your hair is naturally platinum blonde).
It smells a bit like hay, but that can be easily remedied with a few essential oils mixed with your shampoo.

This is where I get my Henna.

oh! that's a great idea! Thank you, I'm going to look it up here in the Netherlands! :)
