Hi all, I'm new to PUG but I've lurked the website for a year or so, and I'm super impressed with this positive community here on PUG forums! The reason for this post: I'll be turning 35 this summer and I'm a SAHM to a 2 y/o, and will possibly add another baby to the family soon, as well.
So I've been hitting a mid-30's crisis about my wardrobe...I haven't updated it in years, and it was never a flattering style to begin with anyway. Plus, as a gal who's worked all her life and has now found such joy and pride in being a SAHM, I really want to update my wardrobe to reflect a "professional mom/sexy wife" look, because I don't want to belittle my new profession by rocking the "yoga pants, hoodie sweater" look that has befallen the SAHMs lately. After searching for a style to reflect all of the following traits (professional, fun, feminine, timeless, flattering to a REAL woman's figure, high quality material & make, utilitarian) I have found many of those traits through PUG.
Sorry for the long story, but here's my questions:
1) For those fearless females who wear PUG styles on a daily basis, which outfits do you find most comfortable and versatile for various demands of the day?
2) Are these clothes easy to keep clean/wash?
3) Any toddler moms out there who can suggest kid-friendly daily styles?

Thank you all so much for your help, and you are an inspiration to me!!

Thank you!  Aprons are definetly a clothes saver, I have gotten into wearing an apron around the house.  Back when people didn't wear an outfit once and then wash it, aprons were a imperative!

If you want more ideas, you can check out my blog http://pacifiersandpinups.wordpress.com/  Its all about pinup mommyhood, a lot of fashion, but also topics that are special to moms like homemaking and kid stuff.

Love your blog! Bookmarking it right now! :)

I am currently a SAHM, about to turn 33, with 3 year old and 1 year old boys (2 good sized mutts in my house too.)

My go-to's are pencil skirts made of BENGALINE (http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/pinup-nautical-navy-pencil-skirt.html) - they are nice and stretchy and I have no problem bending down to corral kids and toys.  They also brush dirt and dog hair off easily!  Pair these with any PUG top to dress is up a little, or wear a nice t-shirt or slouchy scoop neck top for those casual days.

Ridley or Harrison tops with capri's (I usually wear denim ones) are great when you don't feel like a skirt!

I also love my Colette (http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/colette-button-down-dress-in-green...); button front access if you need to breastfeed, and it has POCKETS!  The only thing that would make it better would be if it were available in a print to help hide dirty kiddo handprints!

I thought the Audrey was going to be my staple skirt in my wardrobe, but the material attracts dust and dog hair like crazy (I have black - should have seen that one coming!)  I am still considering getting it in a print (because I do love it) and see if that will help.

I also do not dryclean any of my PUG stuff (*gasp*).  There is no drycleaner in my small town, so I wash my items on the delicate cycle and hang to dry (or dry on low if I don't have time to hang.)

Hope this helps someone out a little! :)

That's good to know about the Bengaline skirts, I was wondering about how the stretch would help! Also the tip on the button-downs for breast feeding is awesome! I'm simultaneously trying to build up my maternity wardrobe as well, but I don't want to spend all of my budget on maternity-only clothes that will be given away several months down the road; I'd like to have timeless pieces that can fit all the bills! (Asking too much? Not in this day & age.)
@Jennifer -- cute heels! I'll check out Iron Fist since I need a pair of white flats (cool brand name, too).
I took a picture of the clothes I'm excommunicating from my wardrobe and I'll post them to my profile just for kicks. A reminder that I'm heading in a new direction that embraces my age, femininity, and timelessness. ;)

Thank you, I cant believe I found those at Kohls! I love Iron Fist shoes, they are a bit different than what you will find on the PUG site. Even though I love PUG clothing I still love skulls and zombies too! Check out Hell Bunny too, they sell real cute swing dresses in really interesting patterns, like skulls and unicorns!

I love this! So much great mommy style advice! I feel like I am in Active Wear hell when I take my kid to school! Thanks ladies!

Hi, I may not be a stay at home mom, (lol, I had to look SAHM), but  I'm a 48 year old medical provider and I wear PUG and other vintage styles every day at work and at home. I have been dressing this way for years and I can tell you the challenge has not only finding styles that are attractive on my figure but appropriate for work and versatile too. I agree with everyone on the separates concept, one black pencil skirt goes a long way. So for what its worth, here's a few of my favorrite tricks. A cropped light weight jacket or short sleeved button up sweaters in a variety of solid colors are priceless for layering over a low cut dress or blouse remove them to go from day to night. A simple red matte lip, eyebrows, and eyeliner plus some sort of heel make me feel dressy and complete no matter what I'm wearing, Hopes this helps

Your input definitely helps, thank you! Btw, it inspires me that you are so beautiful and stylish (in a fun way, too) and you are 10 years older than me; I wondered if the vintage look would still work for me in my 40's as well, and you show that it definitely can! :)
Hey I have three kids (ages 7, 3, and 1) and love the DD vamp top with a sweater and jeans. Pencil skirts work with cute flats and top. Summer is Netti dresses and halters with capris or jeans or my old standby of skirts. This year I want to add some Heidi dresses. Have fun!

I traded the hoodies for cardigan sweaters or boleros over camis for a versatile/professional mix and match option (because face it, who knows when you are going to get to laundry when chasing after young kids).. Depending on the age of the kids, either go with retro style jewelry or something if your kid grabs, won't hurt you (like clip on earrings).  Hair clips & flowers are a fun/kid friendly way to dress yourself up too.I haven't been brave enough to change from jeans or capris to skirts because the kids still like to wipe their hands on me. My shoe of choices is still a running shoes for safety reasons (I'm outnumbered) I choose my battles wisely.

Just be forewarned that if you have a daughter and you are buying cute accessories from PUG, you might want to order a second set for her. Mine has commandeered just about every accessory that I have bought from PUG.

i work in retail and am running all day, i love the hight waist crop pant and harrison top, i have the top in both black and white. or a pencil skirt and the jersey long sleeve mock neck. I think these would be good everyday options and i love a shirt dress for doing my "out and about" things like shopping and banking. i save the dressy dresses for special outtings. 3 must that i will never be without in my PUG life... a great classic pair of heels. ( actually bought a pair at a going out of business sale for 7$) a classic black hand bag. and a killer sexy dress ( whatever makes you feel like your husband would be jealous if someone else saw you in it.). just remember clothes dont make the man but a great dress can make any woman beautiful.
