A fun part of the pinup girl style of coarse are the clothes, but also the hair! It’s definitely the cherry on top of the cake of pulling the whole look together. Though I had not seen my natural hair texture in vintage photos from the 1940s and 50s, I am still given ideas of what to create from the photos that I have seen. My hair is mid-length, but I have fun with hairpieces and wigs, to change the texture and length for creating different styles.

In your reply, I would like to see pictures of vintage hairstyles for every hair length: short, medium, and long. It can be close ups of you, your friends, or favorite photos of individuals rockin’ vintage hair styles. Try to group the same hair lengths together per reply. Thanks!

Short Hair (above the shoulders, with an asymmetical back to front... straight, with moderate body)

And yes, I so badly need to color it. Right now, I'm trying to grow out the black to go back to my natural (with assistance!) red. Probably in two weeks... Looking forward to it! Hope everyone likes these! Youtube has been not only a source of inspiration, but a major help in pulling them off! Looking forward to more by Ms. Angelique! (and sorry about the quality - mmy camera phone is NOT a smart phone & has not the greatest quality... working on a better camera!)

lovely hair, is it short in back to longer in front? I have totally been thinking of doing that...

It is, and it's a wonderful style!! My hairdresser wanted to go more retro on me anyway, so it's kind of a modern 60's bob, with long side bangs (hence why the kitten ears are more forward than back - I had to work the bangs in!). It's so easy to do things with!! And at the time, I needed to cut off like 7" of dead hair (I hadn't cut my hair in like 8 months and it had grown out to near the top of my bra strap!) and I wanted it shorter because all I did was throw it up in a bun or pony for work. NO CREATIVITY on my part. I wouldn't grow it out again unless paid an obscene amount of $$$!

I thought I'd upload pics of my hair straight out of the shower, from different angles, so you can truly see the cut better. Hope they help! It truly is a great hair cut, although I will be growing it out a little more, but not more than an inch or two.

Here's what my hair looks like blown out and dried:

Hope that helps you decide!! I'll also upload a couple of new 'dos that I've done with this hair cut...

thats so awesome, thanks for all the pictures, its nice to have a better reference. I have recently colored my hair all purple and I cut off about 6 inches due to damage from having to bleach it. It is still really long down to my mid back though and I am seriously debating about cutting it short now. I have spent like 7 years growing it out since I always wanted it to be really long. But now i am finding I do exactly what you said, I always throw it up in a pony or a bun. Due to having pretty bad carpal tunnel syndrome I find it hard to curl, or style because it hurts my wrists and makes my arms numb. I am so scared that if I cut it all off I will hate it. Grrr. its so annoying.

I really like that you showed different styles with this haircut :) I like them all :)

Here are some more 'dos that I've done with my hair... Hope you like them (and if anyone has any suggestions on how to do something better, I'm all ears!):

^ Totally faux side pony

^ half-rolled bangs w/ updo in back

^ single roll

I love the second and third styles.  Super Gorgeous!!

Ms. Angelique -

Could you recommend a YouTube (or other) tutorial on how to do Christina's look? Is it a single victory roll rolled forward? I think I love it, and would love to try it!!

Thank you!

Sorry Jennifer, I don't really know where to find it on Youtube. If you find it, feel free to share. It looks pretty simple and elegant though. Just a single victory roll. If a person has long hair, they can still accomplish a style similar to this.

look up the "pinup doll Ashley Marie", her videos are really good
