I don't know how to start this discussion honestly. I'm always curious when I look through all your photos and read your bios. No one really talks about what they do for a living. I guess I wonder this because I work such an obscure job that I always imagine all the PUG enthusiasts are well known celebrities, or powerful business women because you are all so beautiful.

I work in the offshore oilfield, 6 months a year I'm offshore on a barge or a boat and usually there aren't many girls. I wear steel toe boots, a hardhat, and pants. I never wear makeup and my hair is always in a ponytail. The other 6 months out of my year, I'm usually in a dress with full makeup and my hair done.

So I guess what I'm asking is what do you guys do for a living?

I am a  free lance photographer, its my true passion, I am working on getting my teaching certifications so I can teach on the high school level. My job that pays the bills, and pays for my PUG wardrobe is an Emergency and Critical Care Vet tech.

Such a diverse range of jobs.

Well I'm a full time student and I have been all my life basically. I'm very close to finishing my architecture degree (in November) but recently I realised what I'd rather be doing is environment design for video games so what I've learnt so far isn't entirely in vain.

I will follow my dream and do further study after I finsh my architecture degree.

I'm a Contemporary Artist :D I love my work! I paint all day and model part time

I'm a Quality Communications Analyst (and a geek girl), which is my company's way of saying that my job is a weird combination of:

  • Intranet management/front-end development
  • Content strategy
  • Internal comms/comms strategy
  • Technical writing (policy and procedure documentation and analysis).

It's a challenging mix; one minute I can be writing code, the next planning project roll-out comms or doing process improvement or wire-framing.

that's quite a technical job you've got there! :)

Hah, yeah, it's ended up that way, although some days are pure communications--it's nice to get a chance to write. I love working in a technical role though; so many new things to learn and skills to develop.

Oh I can imagine! Never a dull day for you, huh?

Yay, another tech writer type! :)

What a great thread!!  I currently do Customer Service Rep work for a product development company to pay the bills, but I also create handmade jewelry, fascinators and aprons in my spare time to sell in my Etsy shop.  I'm hoping it will become my full time gig at some point.... or that I become a famous singer in a rock-n-roll band. =D

I love this thread!

I am currently a SAHM with an almost 6 month old boy, and a 2 1/2 year old boy.  Pre-babies, I was selling Real-Estate and working towards my Electrician's ticket.  Funny, the more time I spent in steel-toed boots and Carhartts, the more I found myself developing a shoe fetish and filling my closet with girly items to wear in my non-work time!

I am in a small town, and I find myself wearing my dresses and heels to the Mom & Kids thingy's just to have someplace to wear them...if my town wasn't so small I wouldn't stand out like such a sore thumb - but if I don't wear them, how do I justify ever purchasing new ones?? LOL

I'm heading back to work in the electrical field in the New Year.  Any ladies have advice on how to rock the look while on a predominantly male job site, without drawing negative attention?  I'm thinking "Rosie the Riveter" may be the only way to go! :)

Thanks,

Ali

Hi everyone!  This is a great thread for sure :)  I am a make-up artist in a big corporate make-up company, but I do love the crap out of my job.  Making women feel pretty is my passion! But my REAL job, other than being a mama to a nearly 11-year-old boy, is art/photography!  Boudoir photography is my one true love.
