I was riding around Saturday looking for vintage and second hand shops. My mission was to look for some goodies for myself as well as some potential gifts for some of my PUG PALS. First stop was a local shop which was a recommendation from a friend. This place had a lot of pretty well cared for old furniture. Not exactly what I had in mind (right now anyway), but definitely something to keep in mind for the future. The search continued. While driving through Orwigsburg I saw this window display that caught my eye. Drove right past it, but as I got farther away, I had the feeling that if I didn't turn around to check it out I'd regret it. So I stopped at this place to get a better look and see what exactly it was. The windows were filled with things like prom gowns and wigs, with pink signs on the outside. I noticed one of the signs listed some of the merchandise they sell. Among them were prom gowns, hair pieces and wigs, vintage hand bags, hats and other accessories. Turns out they were closed at the time, but I wrote down their hours and wanted to come back and try again for sure :) Today was that day! So I went to the door of the establishment and it was locked:( Although this really sweet woman who owns the store saw me standing outside in my PUG gear (Deadly Dames red/black dot vamp top, black Dixiefried perfect pencil skirt & black Pinup couture wedges) and felt bad so she let me in. Today happened to be the day see was doing inventory and was welcoming visitors by appointment only. I'm glad she made an exception for me :D I think she was a bit embarrassed. She apologized for the mess (because of the inventory update) which wasn't necessary. The shop was still really cute on the inside. She proceeded to compliment my outfit and hair (my hair was in my ponytail/pin curl look which I've gotten use to doing a lot this summer), showed me around and invited me to sit down at her vanity to try on some hair falls. I never really considered trying something like that before seeing as my hair is naturally thick to begin with BUT it sounded like fun so I was all in :D Don't have any pictures, but they did look kinda hot ;) She also showed me these cool bun hair tie things that could be artificial or human hair and tie into the hair to have that full look of a bun. THAT did peak my interest. I usually just put my hair in a bun with bobby pins. Unfortunately she didn't have any in my shade of red, but told me if she did, she would have given one to me for free just for trying things on :) There is the option to special order one in a more specific color to match mine. Didn't order one this time, but I may do that in the future. Who knows? I did manage to get something really cool :D This beautiful lavender hand fan for about $9.00 and change. It has purple embroidered fabric with purple sequin flowers and white with gold decoration plastic handle. The plastic seems thick, so hopefully it'll hold up. Wanted it as soon as I saw it in the glass case :D I've been looking around at some local places hoping to find more with no luck… until today.
I'm sitting here wishing I would have taken a picture of the outside of the store. Oh well, my cell doesn't take the best of pictures anyway. That's what my Apple laptop is for! Though that might be a little awkward trying to take a picture of a building that way. HA :D If you're ever in or around Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, check the place out!;) I know I'll be back sometime! I told her that to. loll It's called Divinely Designed Wigs and More. The owners name is Jeri Carroll (so sweet) and she also does princess and I believe bridal parties in connection with the shop. This is her business card below. From what I can see there's no website, it's just a brick and mortar type of location. Still awesome.
