So I get paid in the middle of the month.  It's a bit weird, I guess but it works for me.  Usually, the first Saturday after pay day I take off to our nearest "city" and have a bit of a spend.  I figure the short car trip is cheaper than postage for one or two places, and I get to have a browse around too!

After much complaining about work and suchlike, my other half decided to accompany me, which made a nice change.  On Friday night he found out that one of the villages between Workington (where we live) and Carlisle (the "city") was holding a 50's exhibition, so we decided to pop in on the way through.

It was forecast to be a nice day, and as the forecast was correct I decided to make the most of it.  I wore my white day dress with black star print, black & white wedges, and took a black long sleeved shrug "just in case" (and it stayed in my bag!).  Sorry, no photos - I need to get better at this!  BUT I do have a photo of my "vintage-d up" handbag

I'm sad to say that the exhibition was lacking - though I didn't expect much more really - it was nice to see the 1950's fridge, cooker, and various dresses, handbags, and shoes etc, as well as fabrics and other knick-knacks; but as I said to Scott, anywhere else but Cumbria and there would have been stalls, and "period correct" men and ladies walking around etc etc.  After a quick lunch in the hall the exhibition was held in, we carried on to Carlisle.

I had a very good spend in the shops (oops!).  As well as my usual Lush and Urban Decay, I also got a beautiful purple skirt from River Island

The fabric feels almost like neoprene (wetsuit fabric), and these photos do not do the wonderful colour justice at all!  I'm looking forward to wearing it in winter, not only for it's warmth but also to brighten up the dull, grey Cumbrian winter.

I also got a fab leopard print knitted cardi from New Look, which looks good and had a good price too!

I got some new hair clips, and a curling iron (my hair refuses to hold from curlers!) too

I also got a wonderfully soft hooded leopard print robe with short sleeves (and have since ordered some of the matching pieces online too!).

Yes, I'm having a print-fetish at the moment!  Having been told that leopard print is "ugly" and I "don't suit it anyway", it was a nice surprise to hear differently, so I think I'm making up for missing out on lots of opportunities to wear it! lol

But my favourite purchase of the day just has to be my Hell Bunny dress!

See, I even have photos of me wearing it without stockings on (beware the pale legs!!), which is how much I adore it!

I've ordered a little cream flouncy petticoat to wear under it (a the white dress I wore on Saturday too), as well as a corselette, as I'm sadly lacking in the lingerie/foundation garments department at the moment.

Today (Sunday) I stayed home, played with my curling iron and baked.  It was far too wet and windy to leave the house!!  I hope you all had great weekends too!

Awww, thank you :)  I hope to wear it when we go out for Scott's birthday (In October), but that may require the purchase of a coat which will go over it, as my current & only proper coat is straight cut :-/

I think people who say things about leopard or any other print should shut up lol  They're clearly jealous...

Ya know, I can see where you're coming from Brandi - and I definitely agree!

Thanks!  I wore it this past Saturday to go to the theatre, but didn't have time to get a better photo of it; I did realise - however - that I need a better jacket to wear over it, and other dresses/skirts that aren't straight up and down!
