Ok, if I am gonna go PUG style, I’m gonna go all out. This is how I roll. When I devote myself to something, it is die hard commitment. Anyone would tell you that about me; loyalty at its finest. And, why not? I have never felt this amazing in clothing, ever. I decided that my entire wardrobe would be PUG and I would have select clothing pieces and minor accessories to enhance it all. I have a few extra shirts, t-shirts, jewelry, and vintage wonders that I can rock hard with my PUG. So this is me, in pictures, across Indiana in 8 months’ time. I typically travel all over Indiana because my family lives hours away from me and I tend to visit them frequently, especially lately, because my husband is away serving our country overseas.
Natalie is a beautiful classic cut and style of dress. The bengaline material is literally magic because it flatters my body in all the right places without accentuating the areas that may not be as welcomed as others. Additionally, I do not have a very large bust, but what I do have is enhanced a thousand fold when I wear this dress. I love it! This is an XL in size. Here I am in Muncie, Indiana.
Oh Jessica, Jessica, how I love thee, let me count the ways. This was the pinup “photo shoot” I was talking about in my previous blog. My best friend, Allison Pareis, took these pictures. We are at a restaurant/soda shop called Cammack Station in Muncie, Indiana. I thought it would be a great way for my husband to keep me in his pocket as he serves our country overseas for a year. As I mention on PUGStyle, this was definitely one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. I know people of all ages saw me that day; I stuck out like a sore thumb. Men, women, and young children would smile at me as my friend and I had fun with these pictures and with posing. And I got to pig out after the “shoot!” They have great shakes! HAHA! The Jessica is made of that magic material again, bengaline, and it has a front adjustable belt that enhances the bust line and totally slims the waist. I just feel so beautiful in it. It’s a dream to wear. This is an XL. This particular dress, I felt ran just a tad smaller than my other Pinup Couture dresses. But it still fits like a glove.
Here I am at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana at the DeVault Alumni Center. I have been a part of the Indiana University Latino Alumni Association for a long time, serving as the Vice President for a number of years. This year, however, I was simply a guest. This particular evening was the distinguished Latino alumni recognition and scholarship banquet. I got so many compliments on my Veronica.
Even my mentor, and “sister,” who is the director of the Latino Cultural Center, Lillian Casillas, told me she almost did not recognize me. The Veronica, I’m sure you can see a pattern now, is made of the bengaline material as well. The heart-shaped frame at the bust is so adorable. Everything about this dress is absolutely adorable. It is perfect for the workplace because it has a professional and classy look to it. This is an XL. After the event, I went out salsa dancing. So this dress is versatile in different settings for any occasion.
I just received my Master of Education in August. Naturally I had to wear PUG to my graduation. The first actual purchase I made on the PUG Swap/Sell site was for the Dayna from Erica Monique Bass. She rocks by the way! She taught me how to use Paypal, and I haven’t looked back since! HAHA! <3 My school colors were red and grey. Can we say, perfect?! You can see it under my robe in the photo. The graduation ceremony was in Marion, Indiana. Then, to celebrate, I pigged out at one of my favorite childhood restaurants, Back 40 Junction, in Decatur, Indiana. The Dayna is from Pinup Couture and is now discontinued, I believe. But this dress is so amazing. It has a grey bow in the middle that does wonders to minimize the waist. This dress is a 2X and I am happy that it is because I am bigger at the rib cage, and the bow does not stretch. However, that bow performs welcomed waist cinching magic. (My parents, Jose and Herminia! Dad in his guayabera for the special occasion!)
Next we head to the heartland of Indiana: Indianapolis. The mother of all things that are epic happened in Indianapolis. My twin sister, Vanessa, came down from Fort Wayne to accompany me on this epic ride. Nick Waterhouse and the Allah-Las performed at the White Rabbit Cabaret on Fountain Square. OMGGGGG, can we say, dreamy?! He is the coolest guy with the BEST music. I cannot even tell you how much I LOVE his music. He is just a musical genius. OH, and ladies! He is shy! AWWWW!!! OK, OK…back to the dress. HAHA! This is my Erin in berry. I absolutely love this dress because it is SO feminine. The cut of the dress is perfect and classic in every way, shape, and form. This is an XL.
And for your viewing pleasure, I have included a couple pictures from that epic night! HAHA! This is me and Nick Waterhouse. The next picture is me and Miles from the Allah-Las. These guys are the Allah-Las. I told Pedrum and Matt, “OMG, I’m touching your guys’ leg!” I seriously was cheesin’ the whole time. It was as if I was a lunatic that just saw the Beatles! You know…those annoying girls that just faint at the sight of them. HAHA!
This is my life. This is Daniel, my husband, at his departure ceremony in Westfield, Indiana (close to Carmel, Indiana). This was one of the toughest days of my life. He is currently serving a year overseas. If you’d like to read about my journey being a military wife, check out my blog here: http://theavengerswife.blogspot.com/
This is my Erin in lucky green. The color of green is so vibrant. It is just lovely. This dress is extremely versatile. It really works for any occasion. I had to have her in red and plum, too. OMG, I’m so obsessed with these women (dresses)! HAHA! I am 5’5 in stature and the Erin’s hit right at mid-calf. So the length, for me, is perfect. This is an XL as well.
The Natalie is what set it off for me. It’s what made me stick with buying wiggle dresses, too. It is beautiful in all of its pink goodness. My husband had never quite had a reaction to anything I wore like he did when I wore my Natalie. I was instantly hooked and so was my husband for that matter. HAHA! The special occasion was that my cousin got married (one of thousands, I have a HUGE family). We partied all night in Decatur, Indiana. I got so many compliments on my Natalie. This dress is a 2X. Being a lighter color and being more self-conscious at the time (this was my second official PUG purchase), I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of room in it so it would remain looking flattering.
This is where my husband and I have permanently set up shop; in Greenwood, Indiana, just outside of Indianapolis. During the summer months, before we moved into our house, one of my casual summer looks was with the now discontinued Dixiefried Glamour Girl top paired with jeans. This is me just getting home from being in class all day. I was ready to partayyy! The top is a 2X. I am happy I got my hands on one of these puppies. It has a classic shape like the vamp tops; only it is not padded and does not have adjustable straps. Made from none other than the bengaline material, it has a zipper that zips from the bottom just like the Sean and Doris tops. And it is a perfect separate. I had to shorten the straps to accommodate my small bust. But, I love to sew, so I didn’t mind doing the adjustments myself. The bengaline material has a way of holding you in and being sturdy about it, too. This is why I tend to flock to the bengaline material. It holds me in. Thus, a confident chica as a result!
The very first dress that I bought from PUG was the bleeding rose print wiggle dress in stretch canvas. There is a cross-over twist bodice on the top part, which is similar to the cross-over twist design of the glamour girl top and the vamp top. I loved it, but it wasn’t flattering on top for me because I literally had no boobage for the dress. So, a beautiful person, Deborah Griffiths, from the PUG community all the way in the UK, offered to swap my 2X bleeding rose print wiggle dress for her 2X burgundy Greta on the PUG Swap/Sell site. The Greta is amazingly beautiful and classy. I loved it so much that I bought it in emerald green and white, too. This wiggle dress is made from stretch satin fabric that is a polyester and spandex blend. It is super sexy and probably one of the most comfortable dresses to own. It has a built-in shelf bra to lift and accent cleavage, (I’m ecstatic about that, HAHA!) and has sweeping gathers that sweep across the front of the dress.
So there you have it! I have other items that are not here on this blog that I either did not have a photo for or I have not had the chance to wear them anywhere. However, within the confines of my home, I do try them on every once in a while for an extra boost of pep and happiness. Booty tooching, twerking, you name it, I do it! I’m not gonna lie about it! HAHA! OH! And…sometimes I burst into song while trying on these dresses, too. Guess which song I start singing?!!?! “I Feel Pretty!” A little Natalie Wood style! Lol…OMG, I crack myself up, even as I write this.
OH! By the way, I DO call all of my dresses by their names. They are just too beautiful not to. Thus my obsession with all of these amazing women that I totally adore because they make me feel and look good!
So, here is a map to give you an idea as to where I've been, or...where PUG has been sighted!!! hehehe
