So I've been debating whether to post this for a while and though what they hey! So here goes.......

I'm not really sure why but I can always remember never really feeling comfortable in my own skin. Looking back and thinking about my dreadful fashion choices there's no wonder!

So it might be a little late for me to be discovering this now I mean most people find their style in their teens but at least I know now and can finally relax!

I hate fashion, I know that that's a really weird statement especially on here, but I do. All the current 'in season' trends are horrendous, nothing ever suits me and when I do find something you can guarantee someone else will be wearing the same the day that I decide to wear it.

I have always adored the likes or Marilyn, Bettie, Greta and Dita and was so envious of how the looked timelessly beautiful. They looked confident in their own skin.

Then last year I discovered the Bettie Page stores, I felt as though I had died and gone to heaven! EVERYTHING fit and it looked gorgeous on! Needless to say I spent a fortune! Since then I have discovered the beautiful PUG (with a little help from a friend!) and various others.

But its not just my style which has changed, its what the change in style has done for me as a person. I am so much more confident and comfortable as a person now. Don't get me wrong, my purse wont allow me to wear PUG everyday so I save it for special occasions so I feel even more great when I go out.

So that is the story of how I became me and am still discovering my style, whatever that may be, current, vintage whichever it is I'm sure I'm on the right path to find it.

I love this! I completely know how you feel. In junior high and high school, I tried every style I heard of: "preppy", "punk", "bohemian", you name it! I just always felt like I couldn't wear what I wanted to because it wasn't "trendy" or popular. But I ALWAYS loved old movies. The first time I saw "White Christmas" with Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen I was in love! Long story short, I recently found this website and finally feel like someone else "gets it" :). Love your story!

I know where you mean about not really knowing who you are fashion wise. And I love your story, sometimes it takes more to admit that you have or had no idea what you are doing then it takes to find out where you want to be. My father was pentacostal and one of the things that pentacostals do is that clothing is not allowed to be an ornament. I really had no idea of what looked good on me and what didn't and when I finally got out of it, I tried everything. Needless to say i will still wear anything that I like (not a 100% vintage gal) but I find that anything 70s or pre-70s looks good on, and is flattering. My favorite period of dress is the 1960s when you could wear swing dresses or jeans - anything goes. In light of that

I'm glad you found your style, it takes so many people much longer to figure out what looks good on them and what doesn't, and if you've ever been to Walmart you know that some people never do. Fashion today is about being lazy and I think that's sad.

I think to me now, fashion is whatever I want to be. It has to make me happy. Even if I look like a total slob wearing it. :) it's a nice rule

This was me a little over a year ago, and I haven't looked back. I have found that I seem to gravitate towards the 1940-50s (and every once in a while, 1960s), and while I can't always PUG it or vintage it, my style itself has taken on the same styling. I have never gotten so many compliments, or been so comfortable in my skin!

Thank you ladies for your kind encouraging words, I'm glad that you all get it, I was a little nervous about posting this as I thought it may be just me! Just another reason why I have become totally obsessed with this site!
