The pursuit for flawless skin has been around forever, and in the past we’ve done some crazy things to get the perfect look, including putting deadly poisons on our skin. Luckily, we don’t have to go through such extreme measures today, because we have a lot more information and options available to all of us. So, what’s the secret – how do you get flawless skin? Here are some suggestions.
You can simply not have radiant, tight and smooth skin if it’s not sufficiently hydrated. You have to do it in and out, because if your skin is dry, it will not only feel like it’s about to crack any minute, but it will also be a bad base for any makeup that you want to put on. So, carry around a small water bottle with you wherever you go and apply a deep moisturizer both in the morning and in the evenings. Don’t think you can skip using a moisturizer if you have oily skin! That’s even more of a reason to hydrate, because the excess oil is actually your skin’s attempt to hydrate itself.
A skincare routine that you can’t find time to commit to is like having a fridge stocked with food you know you don’t want to eat. It’s called a routine because you need to be regular with it if you want it to work. And you have to keep in mind that not all products are the same and not all skin is the same, so just because your friend found a miracle cream that works for her, that doesn’t mean that the same cream will work for you. Maybe she has some wrinkles she wants to be gone, but you want to remove brown spots and for that, you’ll need a cream with different ingredients and maybe different application. Not to mention that someone with very delicate skin will have to stay away from products that have abrasives in them (exfoliators) while someone who has a lot of dead skin buildup should use it frequently. If you’re not sure what you need, talk to your dermatologist and have them recommend a product.
Speaking of dermatologists, there are some things that you just can’t get done at home, such as procedures that require specific skill or ingredients. Once every few months, you want to visit your dermatologist and see what the state of your skin is and how it can be improved. They will suggest treatments like chemical peels and different masks, but if you have a special effect that you want to achieve, then they might go into something different which can be more or less invasive, depending on your needs.
No matter how much you invest in your skin, things like pimples and wrinkles will eventually happen – and that’s perfectly normal! You don’t have to be ashamed of imperfections or feel like you’ve failed at something because you have them, but your confidence can take a hit from them, so having makeup to cover them up can be a real life-saver. The three main things you need to perfect if you want to give the illusion of flawless skin are correcting, highlighting and contouring. And if you do nothing else but do these things well, you will have the most natural-looking, flawless skin there is.
Having perfect skin shouldn’t be your life goal, but it will help you achieve it, because with flawless skin, you’ll feel more beautiful, confident and ready to take on the world. So make taking care of your skin a part of self-care and self-improvement and walk out of the house every day feeling confident.
