..like if you pretty ladies didn't already knew that ! :)

Pin curling is, hands down, the best technique to achieve vintage hairstyle. Women of the 40s...til the early 60s religiously pin curled their hair every night before going to sleep. It was the « base » of almost every popular hair styles of the time wether your hair was short or long.

As every « newbie pin curler », I'm aware of how frustrating it can get when you feel overwhelmed by spending 30min/1hour at night to have nice looking hair in the morning...

Fact is itsn't difficult to master BUT it does take time...

When it comes to doing my hair I must be one of the laziest girl I can think of... but I decided it was time to « cut that shit » (sorry for that :D) & start pin curling on a daily basis :).

I wanted to show you pics of the past couple days because it feels good when hard work finally starts to pay.

This is how my 5th pincurl set ever turned out. I tried the « alternate pincurls » technique (1 row clockwise & 1 row counter clockwive) also lnow as the pin curl wave.

Picture 1 is how the set turned out on day 1.

Picture 2 & 3 is how the same set turned out on day 2. (I re-pinned everything dry in place before bed)

This demonstrate the versatility of styling options pincurls give & also that spending a little time every night allow you to get 2 or more days (depending on your hair type/texture) of vintage hair.

I was happy with the result & it really motivates me to keep up with this gorgeous & healthy curling technique. :)

I feel I'm learning more everytime I'm doing it ! It's so cool !

Absolute perfection. I love the glasses as well.

awww thank you pretty girl ! :))))

I quite like this set ! the massive sausage curl at the front was something I've been trying to do for a long time ! :)  yeaaah *happy kitty dance*

Re-pinned everything in place tonight so I hope I'll still have a decent 'do tomorrow ^_^ *fingers crossed* !

My glasses are Ray Ban's RB5226 in black/clear frame ;)

Kiss !

Thanks for the info on your glasses. i may need to get a pair.

i really like this look better than the 1st look. did u skip the alternating set? how did u do this set? do you do any of "elevated" pin curls or whatever theyre called where they stand up? can u help explain what u did different between your 1st look and this one?

Oh my, I love it! I have long hair and really think that pincurls are made for hair that is just below the shoulders or slightly longer. Mine is now too long unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing these pics Viola, you are doing an awesome job with your hair and I'm loving the makeup as well.

oooh thank you so much Soozi !!! ^_^ you're too sweet !

I think pin curls look good on any hair lenght... yesterday a friend of mine tried it & she has 2 or 3" below bra strap lenght hair... it's still looked very good ! very wavy long hair a la Veronica Lake ;) sexy !

But I agree with you that they look the most authentic with shoulder lenght hair. I cut mine just below shoulders & I find it really gives me the results I love best :).

Viola

Thanks, I had planned to ask you how long your hair is. My hair is still in the long category, but I have been contemplating cutting it so that I have better chances with styling with curls (I do however really like having long hair... :/ )

Anyways, you look fantastic! (And make me considering cutting my hair!)

Thanks so much girl ^_^

My hair is about 2 inches past my shoulders.

It's true that very long hair is more difficult with pincurls because it doesn't give as much of a true vintage look but it still looks cute imo.

Viola

I agree Viola. The 40s gals had very long hair but come the 50s everyone was cutting, perming, colouring and pin-curling in a way that wasn't available during the austerity of the war years.

Do you think I could go running in a pin curl set? Just throw a scarf or hat over it beforehand? I run in the mornings, and all the heat styling is killing my hair.
