Kinky Box Skirt alteration advice!

Hi ladies! My Purple Hawaiian Kinky Box Skirt is too big in the waist, and it makes me so sad because it's absolutely gorgeous and I want to wear it everyyyywhere.

I've got some basic sewing skills but I'm paranoid about screwing up such a beautiful skirt if I try to take the waist in - it's those wide pleats, they make me so nervous lol. A gathered skirt I could do, but I'm afraid of making the pleats look wonky. Any gifted sewers out there have any advice for me on how I should go about altering it? Is this something a professional tailor/seamstress could take care of easily?

Personally, I'd go to a professional for anything that's got any sort of gathers in the waist, but that's just me
