Plus Size Modeling - A little insight.

Now I'm not the authorty on the world of Plus size modeling, nor am I a jet setting super'plus'model but I a working plus model. It is not my full time employment but more of a side hobby to my job and my blog.

The first thing you learn right off the bat - plus size models are not always plus size women. A plus size model can start from a size 8US onward which is sad for realtity but in modeling - not all is reality.

We all know simply what a plus size model is but one of the main comments or questions I read is what makes a plus size model.Plus size modeling is not limited to the larger end of the size scale but starts from a size 8US and up being that the models are larger than the standard size. Plus models can be for runway, catalog, editorial, fit etc and fill a great need and want in the current market.

As with the standard regulations with modeling you need to have height, proportion, clear skin, good teeth and so forth. It comes with the same rules, care for yourself, your skin and your health as you are basically a walking advertisement for many curvy women.

But sometimes, girls a little outside of the box and not so standard slip through like myself. For the last few years I've ventured into the world of plus size modeling and it's been one of the most rewarding and inspirational things I've done to date.

I adore doing what I do wheather it be working for a client or even the work I do on my own blog.
I feel like by simply being 'out there' in the public view I can instill some kind of confidence in other women.

For me the world of plus size modeling is forever growing, inspiring me and making me proud of my figure. I however stick out like a sore thumb with bright red hair and tattooed skin so I'm not suited to all forms of modeling in this field. Having this look limits me a lot in this industry.

The work I get varies but I've done everything from look books, catalogues, runway, from beauty to fit modeling. It's not easy and I work constantly to get my name out there and make my mark.

I know I don't fit the standard definition of commercial beauty but it is my goal to break a few molds.

The feeling I get when I can inspire a woman or make her feel better about her body is one of the best moments ever. If I can make a person feel better about their own shape just by doing what I do then I know I'm on the right track. I also love the feeling for giving someone a little more confidence with fashion as well.

But at the same time such postives always come along with a few negatives. People will always have an opinion on your body as its being placed in the public eye, they will feel the need to comment on it regularly.

If you are in the 'inbetweenie' range like myself you'll be hit with the 'she is not large enough to be 'real' plus size label. These real women, real plus size comments are not only insulting for us but any woman of any shape that does not have curves or is not a size 20+

I hope that gives you guys a little more information and help when it comes to the industry. The best resource I can recommend is Plus Model Magazine they offer advice and links to help you find out more information about plus modeling.
