I can NOT be the only person having technical difficulties when it comes the these necessary nuisances. I am having a hellacious time trying to find tea-length petticoats for some of my summer dresses that just need a little extra "Oomph". :( All the ones I've seen have been "booty dusters" as my Nana calls them, or really expensive. Can ya'll recommend where a girl can find some "appropriate" petticoats at decent prices?
Please and Thank You,
Vickie Mesa :)
aw, thanks on her behalf! I love this year's summer line!
I've not purchased them, but I know Domino Dollhouse has several colors.
Domino Dollhouse petticoats are super lovely and soft, but for a US size 14 and up.
Etsy has a good collection as well!
I don't know if you are crafty - but you could try this youtube tutorial on making your own:
I'm thinking of adjusting and adding layers. Be forewarned - this video changes volume from very quiet to very loud! :)
Wow! Thank all of ya'll SO much for the responses. I've got tons to choose from now :)
Unique vintage has them in tea length! They also have child sizes. :)
I recommend MyPetticoat.com. They have a ton of options are and pretty affordable. I've got 2 of the "economical net petticoats" and they do the job for a great price! They have a lot of options as far as length ans sell tulle, organdy and chiffon options.
I bought 3 petticoats from PUG, exactly knee-lenght. They are perfect. I can pull them a bit up or down if needed for the dress, it's not noticable. Petticoats really boost the impression of the full skirt dresses, since I wear them I get practically 4X as many compliments as before. Some women even wants to take a peep what holds the dress like this, haha! Anyway, they are not very comfy, and can be hot in summer, but I get so many compliments every day, that I rather get used to some inconveniences of wearing!
Are they hot in the summer? I just received mine and was thinking that the lift away from my legs is going to feel awesome as well as give me a little room for a breeze or two to sneak up and cool me down. Is this not the case?
I would like to start another thread on this topic, if I can:
I just received mine from ebay and i jumped up and down like a little kid on christmas!! i can attach pics of it after tomorrow, if ya'll like... it's multi layered, but not too full, and has embroidery flowers along the layers, which makes it also a showpiece in and of itself. So here's the question:
1. it fits perfectly around my waist, and the length ends right below my knees. HOWEVER, I was trying on the dress I want to wear tomorrow with it to work, and at least the bottom layer was showing. Is this appropriate? If showing some petticoat is ok, how much is ok? I went and pulled it up and tucked the slip part under my bra, which lifted it up enough so that nothing was showing under the dress, but filled it out perfectly. So which way would be best?
2. I hesitate to take this in and have it shortened... I think there may be a dress that I do need the full length for. So is tucking it under my bra ok (it looked kinda cool, actually...) or should I have it taken up? What would ya'll do in this case?
Advice IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!! Let me know if you want pics; I'll be more than happy to upload some (and will eventually to my photo album).
Thanks - Jenn =)
that does look great!! it looks like it peeks out a couple of inches, too. that's kind of where mine is at with the dress i want to wear tomorrow... thanks for the answer! it helps!n =)
