I just found out about this vintage style lingerie store in Long Beach, CA earlier today while at an antique store. I found a darling bag/case with which to store nylons. And it was a great price. The store clerk told me that she thought that the owner from Lucy B might want it, but I grabbed it first! Now I've taken a look at the Lucy B website and it looks pretty interesting. Anyone ever shopped there?

Their stuff is darling and ultra collectable (: However, I do not personally own any so I'm not sure about wearability...but always looks great in photos!
Permalink Reply by Auburn Hills on February 5, 2013 at 5:28pm I haven't been to the shop, but I do have a few pair of panties. In my opinion its not worth the price or effort. Everything is really cute but not suitable to wear for anything other than "the reveal" for your sweetie. Fabric quality and construction is low quality at best. If you are looking for wardrobe for a shoot it would be okay.
Permalink Reply by Aoife 24K on February 7, 2013 at 4:46pm I happened to be in Long Beach for work today and decided to drop by. The lady in the store, maybe the owner, was gracious enough. The lingerie seemed OK. Their retro style things appear to be all Bernie Dexter items. The woman told me that she makes the bras for Bernie Dexter. But I must admit that I was not really won over. And I will also say that something happened there for the very first time. Most of you know that I am transgender. Inasmuch as it was a work day, I was dressed in guy mode. I always am upfront about who I am and when I go into a new store I usually bring some of my pin up photos to show that I am not just some weirdo. But the woman said: "We don't let men try on our lingerie." I still chatted with her a bit and I even bought some small bra pads. But now I regret that. No shop has ever refused to let me try on clothes before. That is right... no shop! I don't go into department stores expecting to try on woman's clothes in the women's dressing room while in guy mode. I am very civil and well mannered. I do not want to push limits. But every vintage boutique I have ever been into has been so accommodating. I am sorry, I just had to get this off of my chest.
I had better just give my great thanks to my two favorite vintage boutiques: PinUpGirl and What Katie Did. I will be forever in your debt for your kindness!
Permalink Reply by Brandi Shuey on February 7, 2013 at 7:05pm Wow, ok maybe it is their "store policy" to not let men try on lingerie, but it's still not right. Ok sure, the dressing room situation depending on the set up may be an issue, but no matter what you should be able to try on something before you buy it. Kinda kills that good happy shopping energy when you come across shit like that :/ Oh well. Like you've pointed out, there are plenty of other stores that will be glad to have your business AND have you feeling good about the experience :) A happy customer is almost always a repeat customer! PUG knows a little something about that ;) ;)
