I've been planning to take boudoir/pinup pictures for my husband for a while now, but I've had a really hard time finding the kind of lingerie I'm looking for, especially when it comes to bras.
I purchased this open bottom girdle which I really like, but no one's had the top in anything close to my size including PUG, and sadly I never fit anything so I try not to order online. Even the gorgeous PUG swimsuit I ordered for this -- on final sale, of course -- didn't fit :(.
I've tried all the usual lingerie stores (Victoria's Secret, Fredericks) and every pinup boutique near me, but I haven't found a thing. Any ideas where I could find nice retro bras in Southern California? Or what else I could use as a top that would suit the style?
Thanks for your time.
Have you tried What Katie Did? :)
I haven't. I'll check them out. Thanks!
I totally recommend What Katie Did. They are located on Melrose Ave. I don't know what size you are but I get my bras (Non retro but they also carry a lot of different styles.) Jenette's Bras. They are also on Melrose but in the East Hollywood area and also in Pasadena. I purchased my Rago girdle from Laura's Corset Shoppe in Glendale. I have not gone to Wizard of Bra's in Monrovia.
Thanks. I'll check all of those out. I only have a week until my photo shoot so I really have to find something soon. I appreciate all the suggestions.
For what it's worth I also fully recommend What Katie Did 100% for everything that they sell, bullet bras, high waisted knickers, garter belts and retro back seemed stockings :)
I third the suggestion about What Katie Did. I have nothing to say but great things about them.
One other suggestion I have is Beverly Hills Hosiery in Downtown LA. They have quite a good selection of Rago shapewear, such as open bottom girdles.
I just spent another day visiting one lingerie store after another and still don't have anything. I was hoping to avoid driving out to LA, but clearly that's not going to work. I'm going to try to get out to What Katie Did asap.
You can always check out their website first. That way you will sort of know what to expect.
I did. And like I expected, I can't afford their (absolutely beautiful) stuff right now. Same reason I can't go to prom :(
But I'll definitely keep them in mind in the future. It looks like they have exactly what I'm looking for.
Just a quick thought. A few months ago I just did a search on Amazon looking for "retro bras". I found a reasonably priced bullet style bra. I think that it was under $20. You might give it a try.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I think I found something that will do considering my limited time and budget, but if I ever do this again, I'm saving up for What Katie Did :)
I don't know if you are still in the market but I would recommend Revival Lingerie, Stockings and Romance and Kiss me Deadly. Each has a different vibe and they are marked at lower price points then WKD.
