Hi everyone! I've only been here a few weeks and love it. My question is how often do you add items to your collection? I'm a mother of two and don't seem to shop for myself very often. Do you plan your purchases or buy on impulse.. I would love to hear your opinions. Thanks

I tend to go in phases. I won't purchase anything for a few weeks, then I'll do a little haul, then stop for a month, and so on and so forth. I've been making little purchases (from Pinup Girl Clothing to Boohoo.com to curling irons from Babyliss) for two months now.. ;)

I try to set a monthly budget and then not go over that no matter what :) I actually need to lower it because my closet is getting kind of full.... oops :)

But usually I will make small purchases throughout the month and then one or two big ones once or twice a month.

I don't buy from PUG too frequently due to the high shipping costs. I am always cruising eBay and etsy. :) I don't usually buy on impulse. I will see something or be inspired by something or someone and then stalk the Internet looking for the best deal. :-)

Like the others who have so far replied, I try to be judicious about my buying. I try to limit my major purchases to maybe once or twice a month. But I do get the chance to shop a lot during my lunch times. Most often I frequent thrift stores or antique stores. If I can find a major steal at one of those stores, I will almost always buy it, even if I am not in immediate need of it. Recently I have bought a couple of vintage dresses that each were under about $20. I bought a great black and red scarf for $3 and a cute black vintage purse for about $8. I rarely go out and buy lunch. I almost always bring my lunch from home. Doing that helps me watch what I eat and then I give myself the permission to buy things that are relatively inexpensive.

Of my PUG wardrobe purchases, a half have been full price buys. And a half I bought either at the Yardsale, on sale at the store or on the website,  through the Swap/Sell group here on PUG Style or via eBay. Since I have been to the store and I know what size(s) of PUG fit me, I am comfortable buying PUG things online. I am a girl who loves to get good deals! But the shopping experience at the PUG Boutique is so wonderful, I have to go in every once in awhile.

Shopping is fun, but so is saving money. If you can, play around with the money you allocate for shopping. I love all of PUG. But I know I cannot own all of their clothing. So I am just happy with the pieces I buy... and I know that they will last me a long time given the excellent quality.

I'm a mom of 4 and have a very tight budget. I buy 1 dress a monthly currently.

( That's the deal my hubby and I worked out. Luckily I can sneak a bit more in LOL)

That's the way! lol

I've got five children and am constantly window shopping, but tend to put off shopping for myself. Largely because the kids are outgrowing their things and I've spent most of the past decade with my size fluctuating a LOT from having kids, but we are happy with our family size and won't be having anymore so I declared 2013 the year of saying YES to me! I'm pretty much starting from scratch building my wardrobe, so I have a set budget for the month and I do not go over that.

Usually I'm busy during the week, so I find that I'll usually try and shop on weekends. When I do, I do my usual run through of local vintage shops on Valencia and in the Haight. I'd say that I tend to add at least 1-2 new pieces a week. It is rather difficult though when you have been blessed with two bad habbits of planning purchases and buying on impulse. I somehow always convince myself that I need a new piece. It's always nice to get inspiration from magazines and walking around through stores in order to be inspired to purchase a new blouse or a hot new skirt. If you have doubts on where you could possibly wear certain things, just avoid those doubts because worst case scenario...you could always cook dinner in a beautiful dress for your family.

It's usually a planned thing for me - I don't make that much working in the service industry, so I have to be pretty frugal. It's a bit frustrating, but when I do buy from PUG it's treasured.
