Help me incorporate these hair bows into my vintage look?

Hello ladies :)

I know I post on here all the time. I apologize. This is just the only place I have to get vintage advice! :)

This may sound a bit childish, but I am a total Disney nerd. I love all thing Disney. :) I also have a tumblr account (pinkroseswithadashofdisney.tumblr.com) where I post all my Disney nerdness. Because of my tumblr account, I came across this website:

www.magicalribbons.com

I have ordered literally 30 of these bows over the past few years, and I love to wear them! But with my new found obsession with vintage hairstyles, I have had a harder time using them. I used to wear them primarily with my hair in a bun with a larger bow on the back, but lately I've been doing barrel rolls and/or bandannas with my hair mostly down. These are a few of my favorite bows. Any suggestions how to use them? The mini bows aren't too hard to incorporate, its the big ones (5-6 inches wide) that I have the hardest time with. Thank you!!

post as much as you want!!  I would really just add them to anything, lots of ladies incorporate bows into their hairstyles. With the big ones I would either make them a centerpiece on the side of your head (like you would with a big flower) or just put it on the back of a bun for a little less of an attention grabbing look

Hey thanks Jess! What is your tumblr url? I'll have to check yours out!

Thanks for the advice! I will have to check your shop too. I always have a hard time wearing a huge bow on the side of my head for two reasons... One they are on french barrette style clips so they don't slide on very easily. And two, I guess I'm just not used to the style and attention that comes with it!

Anyways thanks again!

Ok, I'll do a couple of things with hair pieces - because I don't always wear a single big piece, but often a group of (smaller) flowers or bows. I'll post pics to this reply the next time I do this... but, I agree with Jessica; when I do my barrels or V-rolls or even pincurls (a la Lucy), I tend to have them going to one side, so to even things out, I'll put a group of flowers on the other side or a large bow, or the WV fetish mask that I just got from Brandi! Also, I will occasionally take the front section of my bangs - which are really long - and just pull them back with a little oomph, doing kitten rolls or barrels on the sides. With this, I'll put the hair accessory in the center, so it ends up being framed by the rolls.

And re-reading this shows how much I definitely need to post pics to this to make it understandable, so I will do as soo as possible!

Haha, I understand! It can be so hard to write out something that you could much more easily show! Thank you for your advice. I love all those ideas (from what I understand, at least :)).

Hi Kitten :) If using a plain bandana - you could maybe use a bow to secure the scarf as opposed to bobby pins? I know you mentioned you primarily wear your hair down, but a cute ringlet/curled styled ponytail with a ribbon and/or bow secured above it is very 1950's preppy.

Otherwise, if you want to use your bows in ways other than just in your hair, it's fun converting them to accessories. It wouldn't take a lot of effort or skill to convert them into a brooch, or even shoe clips for example! Plus you could add lace or pearls onto backing to change it up a bit if you wanted.

That is a great idea! I hadn't really thought about adding them to accessories. Thank you. I love 1950's preppy.<3
