Alteration Help?

Hello, ladies. I recently purchased the Violet dress in turquoise skull print by Collectif in a size 16, based on the fact that it has no stretch. Sadly, it is too large for me. It's not unwearable, but it really doesn't do my figure justice. I could not exchange it because the company was out of stock in other sizes. So now I am faced with either altering it or selling/swapping it. Do you think this dress would be alterable, based on the thin, slinky material? I don't have a good alteration place to look at it yet, but I won't even bother looking for one if it is likely that trying to alter it would ruin the dress.

Also, I may look into trading this dress, so if someone happens to have it in a 14 or 12 and could post the measurements, that would be amazing!

A good tailor/seamstress should be able to alter it without ruining the fabric, otherwise they're not really that good(!) :)

I'm quite lucky, in that where I work, there are around 10,000 other people, so it's easy to find details of people for things like this by asking for recommendations on the work's notice board; do you have anything like that you could access and ask on?

Mostly Yelp, Facebook, that sort of thing. I've found a couple shops, but I'm willing to bet I'd easily pay the same amount as I would to sell this dress and buy another one, which might be less risky. I'll call around.
