Hey everyone! It's me Tahitia and I wanted to ask a question about Model Mayhem to anyone here who's used it before. One of the things I want to do in the New Year is to get work as a model (ideally a pinup/rockabilly model :) ), and I've been thinking of setting up a profile and wanted to know from people with profiles if over all they've found the site handy, useful, if it's allowed you to really connect with other models and photographers and if it's helped you find gigs.
Thanks for reading this and let me know what you think everyone!
Hugs :)

Permalink Reply by Brandy Cross on December 12, 2012 at 3:45pm Hi, yes you can connect with photographers, makeup artists, and other models, a lot of them want nude shoots though, and a lot of them want you to work for free so if you're just looking to build a portfolio/have some fun, it's great :)
Permalink Reply by Tahitia Belle Fille on December 13, 2012 at 9:06pm Oh I see. Thank you Brandy, that is good information to be aware of.
Even though I'm definitely not looking for nude shots at the moment, I'm sure that if I'm able to put in the leg work and spend the time making contacts and what not that it could be very handy for getting work as a pinup/rockabilly model.
Another fun career building project for the New Year :)
Permalink Reply by Brandy Cross on December 14, 2012 at 12:01pm have fun! I'm pretty sure you can find nice clothed projects easily too, especially if you're willing to work for free/already have the clothes ;)
Permalink Reply by Tahitia Belle Fille on Monday Hi everyone! Well I finally signed up for Model Mayhem and WOW Brandy you were NOT kidding about how many photographers want to do nude shoots.
For now though I'm going to be focusing on "clothed" projects, and lucky I have a few lined up already. One steampunk, one tattoo focused and one pinup/outdoor.
I'll let you all know how they go :)
Permalink Reply by Brandi Shuey yesterday Gotta say... I've never understood the whole "working for free" thing :/
Permalink Reply by cela hyatt yesterday I have an account with them, I haven't been pursuing it very hard. Most of the things I've done have been through local people I met in person. Pretty much all the offers I've gotten through MM have been for nude photoshoots or porn movies. I have found it useful as a way to quickly and easily send people my portfolio. I email the link and they have everything there. Good luck with your modeling venture :)
I love Model Mayhem. Most models nowadays use forums on facebook, but Model Mayhem allows you to quickly check for new photographers, check who does TFP, Pinup, how experienced they are, etc. It also allows you to post casting calls, asking for pinup work (these get seen by those who search for casting calls, so fab exposure). I started modeling on 1 April 2013, and I''ve done 5 photoshoots thus far - all through Model Mayhem.
You will get lots of porno offers at first. This is because newbie profiles show up in search results. So you'll get a wave of unwanted messages... but these die down after a week or so, and then you can really start to network.
