Just wondering if people have a preference.
New retro items vs used vintage

I like the vintage items, but part of me is afraid to use vintage items on a daily basis.
Example: I have a vintage purse that I would love to use on a daily basis, but I'm afraid of wearing it out.
There are also issues like a vintage item may be fragile, have a strange smell or stain, or retro items may not be the quality you were hoping for and may be more expensive... Or the vintage may be more expensive...
SO I searched around online for some ideas on how I could display them in my room, to give me a little more room to grow, and to free up some space in my train case. Was REALLY diggin' on the picture frame option, so I ended up watching a how to video on Youtube, Picked up a few supplies at Walmart (picture frame, glitter scrap book paper, gltter-y ribbon). Brought them home and proceeded to put it together on my bed. Not the best idea :/,.. I now have a couple of small, but permanent glue stains on my bedspread but WHATEVES! I was going to do an all black version, but then realized some of my hair clips are dark, SO I thought white (like the one shown in the video I watched) would make a better background for them.

It's actually kinda hard to see the sparkles in the photos, but it looks cool in person :) I also took these photos with my computer in one hand, while holding my lamp in the other. Talented, huh? :p lol I'm thinking I may add some white glitter glue swirls in some of the empty spaces of white on the frame. Considered going with a bigger size of frame as well, but this one was more within my budget, AND I could always make a bigger one down the road. This one is... I don't even know... I think 8.5 X .. something :p lol

Hello ladies.

I'm looking for some shoe recommendations, as I'm in the market for improving my shoe wardrobe (it needs it). Ever since I had to bin them (I wore them for *everything*!) I've religiously checked their website but have seen nothing similar :(

I know of, and have worn, and am at the moment looking at TUK shoes (and currently have my eyes on some); I've heard of, and seen but not worn, Irregular Choice (though I intend to try a pair on next time I'm able); I've also heard about Miss L Fire & browsed their website a little. To my mind, these are examples of the 'top end' of the range - while I'm probably wrong, they're certainly the top end of what I'm currently willing/able to pay, but I'm open to any and all suggestions :)
Hi ya, My Fave Accessory is...tag:www.pinupgirlstyle.com,2014-05-03:6504043:Topic:3312352014-05-03T21:59:18.177ZRuth Ann Castillohttp://www.pinupgirlstyle.com/profile/RuthAnnCastillo

My fave accessory is... HATS and BOWS... Flowers are ok... but I'm MAD about Hats!

I've made a few fascenators in the past and admire anyone who is skilled in millinery (I by no means am skilled) but i will say if push come to shove I can be creative with; side comes, feathers, flowers netting and a hot glue gun.

I envision something 40s\50s style with a little bit of a flair up and thick enough to hold a decent lens; I have feeling I'll need to wear them to drive, so a compact frame style frame wont work. Do any of you have any online resources for repro frames for prescription glasses? I see a few shops but I'd love some suggestions to help with my hunt.

eBay binge on accessoriestag:www.pinupgirlstyle.com,2013-09-10:6504043:Topic:2567262013-09-10T05:24:14.719ZRuth Ann Castillohttp://www.pinupgirlstyle.com/profile/RuthAnnCastillo

I have been finding items to add to my vintage collection lately; mostly by way of vintage purses and gloves. I wanted to share my two purse finds. I first found this small black compact purse. On the inside is the entire kitten caboodle. I was AMAZED at how perfect it was on the inside. As you can see, even the lipstick tube is in tact.
The next one is a gold lame purse. I couldn't believe how perfectly in tact this purse was as well. It even came with its own circular mirror on the inside. They were both from estate sales that happened to be at the same antique shop I haven't been to in years, and it seemed as if both of them had never been used.

Now, all I need is a gold lame dress and some gold lame gloves! And I'll be one rockin' gold lame chick! haha! It may be too much gold lame, but I don't care. LOL! If I find it, I WILL wear it all at the same time. HAHA!

As I have mentioned before it is slightly difficult for me to find shoes that fit me. And it is even more difficult to find vintage style shoes that fit me. Over the past couple of years I have managed to get a very nice supply of classic looking shoes. I have managed to do this by doing lots of in person shopping, Ebay and various online shoe retailers.

But one can never have too many shoes... can one?! So today I wanted to check out a couple of repro/vintage style shoes stores. I have come across Re-Mix Vintage Style shoes a few times in the past. But I had only looked at their website. Here is the link: http://remixvintageshoes.com/index.html In the past couple of weeks I had gotten two recommendations about this store and their shoes. One was from my sister PUG Style member Auburn Hills. And the other was from the owner of Besame Cosmetics, Gabriela Hernandez. So I had to go there. I was not disappointed. It is not a large store, but they have a pretty good selection of shoes featuring mainly styles from the Forties and Fifties. Their prices are not cheap. But I have heard that their shoes are built to last. So they are a good investment. And they were having a sale! The sales clerk was very helpful. I could have bought at least 4 pairs of shoes but I settled on two. I can't figure out which style they are from the website. But they fit my feet just perfectly. Sorry to say, I forgot to take a pic of the store. But I did take a pic of the shoes I bought:

After that stop I went to the park area of the LACMA museum. It was a beautiful day. And I thought it would be nice to hang out for a while. I forgot to take my member card with me so I did not go into the museum. But I did take a few pics. This is one:

My final shoe store stop was the just opened Miss L Fire store on Hollywood Boulevard. Miss L Fire is an English brand of vintage repro shoes. Their selection is a little less than what
Re-Mix has. But their shoes are so cute!!! The only problem for me was that most of what they make are too small for me. I did find a couple pairs of sandals that I may go back to try on again... and maybe buy. I did buy a pair of retro sunglasses while there. I also took a photo of the store front. At this point there is no US website, but you can at least look at their main site if you want to get an idea of what they do.

On average I would say that the shoes in both stores run about $150 a pair. And of course some are a lot more and the sale items are cheaper. I had a fun day. And now I have two more places that I can spend my hard earned money at.
That Old smell !tag:www.pinupgirlstyle.com,2013-06-20:6504043:Topic:2282662013-06-20T02:25:12.644ZRuth Ann Castillohttp://www.pinupgirlstyle.com/profile/RuthAnnCastillo
