I'm in need of new foundation, I was trying to hold out until I got Micheline's new DVD from Vegas cause I know it comes with a make-up list, but I just don't think I'm going to make it that long.

I can't remember where I read or saw Micheline recommend Armani foundation... so I was wondering if that was still the case?

Hi Micheline!

I love your eyebrow tutorial!! One question though. The main problem i have is that my brows are naturally to short at the temple end so its hard to get that semetrical look, i never plucked or waxed there, its just genetics. So i lengthen them when i fill them in, but since i dont have much natural hair there, they rub off at the ends!!! what do you reccomend i use??? For me being poor meant I had to be more creative with what I had and it fed into me designing and making my own clothes and accessories.

Most kids had their parents take them shopping for school clothes, we lacked this luxury. My mom would take me to thrift stores and second hand shops instead of name brand stores at the local Mall to get school clothes. I really wanted to get more than just basics for school and I knew my mom couldn't afford to buy me the clothes at Little Five Points in Atlanta, so I had to learn the real value of a dollar by working for the money to buy my clothes myself.

I did construction cleaning at he age of 12 or 13, maybe younger, my aunt had set up a business with my mom to clean up newly built homes and restorations. It was really hard work, but I needed money to buy art supplies, clothing and materials to make things so it was worth it. Really working for what you have or want in life is something I think every person needs to learn and I am lucky I learned it at such a young age.

Before I knew how to even use a sewing machine in elementary school I picked up hand embroidery and cross hatching so I think I had a natural draw towards sewing. I started hand sewing clothes before I used a sewing machine. Most things didn't fit me well because of my slim yet tall body type, so my mom would often alter my clothes to fit me properly on her old Singer machine. I never had any real formal training, other than seeing my mom sew. I started by taking in my clothes myself, then that turned into me reconstructing existing things I found at Thrift Shops into something I would actually wear. I remember using my mom's old Singer sewing machine and not knowing now to even thread the needle. I had no real idea what I was even doing but I figured it out only after breaking it two times. *don't sew leather and denim on the wrong setting with the wrong needles. ;)

I couldn't afford the kinds of clothes I wanted even with working but more importantly I found they didn't exist. That is when I started designing clothes.

My art always reflected the kinds of clothes I wanted to wear as you can see in this drawing I did when I was 15.

Outfit looks familiar, right?

I learned how to screen print at 15, because I couldn't find proper band shirts or shirts in general. Even though I could screen print, I still hand painted shirts, first for myself then for friends, then to sell. My first line was called "From Beyond the Grave" it was all monster and film related. Some were original pieces of my own artwork.

These shirts were from when I was 15, and I still own them.

From there I made my first real dress. I loved John Waters films growing up and Cry Baby being one of my favorites I had to have the dress Wanda wore.

So I found fabric and buttons and went to town on my first dress. I was 16 and didn't know a thing about pattern making so drew out the shapes of the dress on the fabric. I would drape the piecing on myself and pin them together, often pricking myself with the pins. I kept single needle stitching and fitting the pieces of fabric to myself until it looked good. I didn't have an option to get a dress mannequin back then. As you can see below I never really cleaned up all my seams, I think I was too excited and just wanted to wear it.

Button holes were hard and yet I managed to do it and this was the end result. I can't button the top button anymore but I still think it looks good.

With successfully making my first dress, I started making other pieces for myself. This is one of my favorite pieces, that I still have. The very first hot pink Deadly Curves skirt was made when I was 17 or 18 by hand, I hand painted the skull on it too. I have to dig it out of storage but I do have an old photo of me wearing it. Then of course the Deadly Curves Skirt made for the rest of the world for the first Deadly Dames collection.

These ideas and designs never left, I had another clothing line in NYC, but being a struggling artist with no money to back it, it never had a chance to really take off. So I continued making clothes for myself and would wait until the time was right to try again.

You can go on the Deadly Dames Facebook page to learn the whole story of how Deadly Dames came to be with Pinup Girl as it is rather long winded, but to keep it brief; I teamed up with Laura to do Deadly Dames my first collection was my chance to make these clothes I had made myself but for all the other girls out there. I knew there had to be other girls like me who always wanted this kind of stuff but couldn't find it.

The white and black polka dot dress returned and the Deadly Dames dress was born and the brand had a name, and that teenage girl who dreamed of these clothes was finally able to make her dreams come true by sharing them with the rest of the world.

So I am going to show you how via photos to create a better brow for yourself. First thing first, symmetry. Yes that is right SYMMETRY it is something anyone can have yet many eyebrows lack. Remember reading all those bad teen magazines that always showed you how to measure out brows... well they were right, and maybe you missed that issue, you know who I am talking to... Anyways, with this photo below I have outline symmetry.

Yes, it all begins with your nose, the corners of your nose dictate to where your brows will sit both inside and outside. The most important thing is that they sit far enough inside, far too often women over pluck on the inside of their brows. This makes their eyes look wide set, and throws off your entire face. The ends, don't always follow those guidelines, I personally like to extend my brows a little further. Arches again can be changed often, I do change mine as I want, but if you have to shave off most or all of your eyebrow to arch them a specific way... you are doing it wrong. Unless you are going for a more 'goth' or 'chola' look. I like doing my eyebrows rather thick, they are not for everyone, but pencil thin isn't going to get you past the 90's, so don't be afraid to let them grow in a little. So enough of my berating, lets continue...

Be for warned all photos were taken with my cellphone, so no fancy quality here kids.

So first thing is first you need to let your brows grow in wherever you have over weeded or shaved. If you insist that they won't grow back, then you can purchase this handy product for $125.00 and it will work!

Yes Latisse, it works I have used it on two friends. I don't recommend using it on your lashes due to the chances of your eyes turning brown if you have light eyes. Put it on at night, one drop should do both brows and wash it off in the morning. If you leave it on continuously in the day light it can cause hyperpigmentation. Just remember to wash it off and you will be fine! You must put it where you want your brows to grow and where your brows currently grow. You will get longer thicker brows after a few weeks of use. I would use it for at least 6 months to a year to ensure that your brows are fully grown back.

Now that we have covered that, your next and first important tool are tweezers. My favorite tweezers are these:

I personally like this travel set, because you can take them anywhere. Remember to always put the rubber knobs back onto the tweezers when you are done, otherwise they can get damaged and will not pull out hair properly.

So now that you have your tweezers, you can begin getting those stray hairs. Make sure your skin is clean and your tweezers are also sanitized.

Remember to pull in he direction the hair is growing. Now that you have done this, and if you have bushy brows like me the next step is very important. You will need a brow comb for this.

You will need to brush your brows upward with he brow comb like below:

After you have brushed the hair into place you will need some small sharp scissors to trim the hairs that are far to long. Now be VERY careful to no cut a straight-line, you just need to trim the hairs that are longer than the rest, or the ones that grow inwards towards your nose like 80's Madonna. Scissors like these are perfect to use:

Now once those brows are trimmed you can begin to fill them in. I have several brow brushes I love. My newest ones come from Ve Neills new brush line that has yet to be released that I got at the IMATS. I do very much like my two Makeup Forever Brow brushes.

You have the right tools, but you need the right product. I dye my hair black, but I NEVER use black. I use a dark brown, or browns. Always use matte shadow, I prefer MAC or Make-up Forever, though depending on your hair color you may also like Anastasia brow powders. Now the pinup brow is a strong one, and I would not recommend using powder unless you will have a full face of make-up. Here is one of my many brow palettes:

Now you don't want to scrub your brow brush, you want to stipple, which is where you take the brush and lift it up and down onto the product. Shake off any access powder before application. You will need to make sure you brow hair is combed back down into place before proceeding. Start from the inside of the brow and use short soft strokes like you are drawing small hairs. Move towards the end of the brow.

Sometimes you may want to wet your brush slightly to get the sharp point on the end of the brow. Feel free to do so. * I know you are totally going to lick your brush now. So now sealing product, I prefer clear brow gels, since my brows are thick and unruly. If they are thinner you may like a tinted brow gel over a clear. I like the Anastasia Clear brow gel the best. I find wax to be a bit greasy and can often clog pores.

Make sure you go in the direction of the hair like the image below!

If you have very oily skin and tend to have your brows rub off, then I would suggest using one of my favorite brands product, Model in a Bottle Brow Sealer:

So if you practice and follow my above instructions you should have a bigger and better Perfect Pinup Brow!

Now if you still have problems trying to fix your brows yourself, there is a new brow trend going around internationally called HD Brows. Now many places are starting to offer this process, and what it is, is combination of several methods to give you perfect brows. It combines tinting, to get your brows the right shade, waxing * I personally would skip this step as continuos years of waxing can quicken the aging process as it rids the skin of elasticity. There are many other pitfalls to waxing and you can read about them here:

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/side-effects-of-waxing.html

Continuing on with the HD brows, then they will trim your brows, thread, and tweeze. If you need filler product such as pencil and or powder they will assist you with that. Contact your local salons and spas to see if they offer HD brows and request to skip the waxing.

The first 10 girls that send me a photo of their bad eyebrows, I will give you a photoshop eye Brow Make-Over, but you have to be okay with them being posted online.

Micheline channeling Pebbles!
Falling Asleep with Make-up on - a Mortal Sintag:www.pinupgirlstyle.com,2012-07-04:6504043:Topic:449302012-07-04T14:28:34.321ZMichele Villahttp://www.pinupgirlstyle.com/profile/MicheleVilla
So I just did the unthinkable... I fell asleep with my Makeup on. A mortal sin in my book.

I wasn't drunk, and too spiny to hobble over to the sink to remove it in fear I may throw up if I even stand... No I was just tired. Though I feel everyone of us girls has had a drunken night like that at least once. Mine was at Viva this last year.

There is nothing worse then waking up with your eyes glued shut because your lashes were still on, or have them stuck to your face like some sort of fake…
There is nothing worse then waking up with your eyes glued shut because your lashes were still on, or have them stuck to your face like some sort of fake mustache or the person next to you freaks out thinking there is a spider in the bed. Yes all these things happen when the makeup stays on and you fall asleep.

The sinful part of all of this is really what it does to your skin. You bake in all your toxins that come out of your face and body in your sleep. You heat up from being wrapped up and having vivid dreams has you rolling around on your pillow. You press and move the toxins, the makeup and whatever hair product that is in your hair all over your face... for hours.

Your pores open up when your body is exerted or hot, so all that stuff on your face dives in and goes swimming in your face. It sits and bakes.

If your anything like me you wake up and freak out, wash your face, exfoliate and wash again... maybe use a glycollic wipe or two. It looks fine or now, but once given enough time to gestiate you will be looking like 15 year old boy going through puberty. Some of you may see an immediate break out, while others may take several days to a week.

Now you see why this is the Mortal Sin of all. You may be one of those girls that never breaks out and can wear Vaseline on her face... If you are we all hate you. ;)
